I know that Angela had a lot of 'sweethearts' but she always called me one of them!  She lived on 101st St in Miami Shores for  SO many years--more than 40. She had a lot of challenges, especially when there was trouble in Nicaragua in the early 80's. Although she never spoke to me about it, I know she took in  many people during that time who sought refuge.  This is when my own children were small and Angela's younger family members would play happily on the street.  Later, one of those family members, (the lovely one in the picture with the very round face) helped me when we experienced a crime. Another challenge Angela faced was Hurricane Wilma.  We all had a lot of damage and lost our yards, and Angela was determined to recover. Of course she did.

Angela's amazing love of animals was always evident. Once she came to my house in a panic, she saw manatees far offshore and insisted that I call the authorities, fearing that they were in trouble. Turns out they were behaving normally-that is, in cool weather, groups of them frolic in shallow water. Angela was relieved. "Thank you, sweetheart" she said.

Then into Angela's animal - loving life came Pinto, a dog about the size of a deer. I called him "the deer". Wow, he could run like one, and was always getting out. When he wasn't getting out he was barking.  In the time from  around 1988-98, we had a dog like that, too,  and the neighborhood was very understanding of Pinto. What I loved was seeing the family members pressed into service to go chasing with their cars  to get Pinto  back.

Angela sold  her home SO suddenly in 2015, and I was so sad to lose touch with her.  I tried to email her but she never answered.  Now I realize that by then,  she was 87. She never seemed that old to me. It is good to know where Angela is now- heaven. With love from Alice Burch

I am sorry to hear that our beloved Angela is no longer with us.
I will never forget her beautiful smile, kind words and gentle spirit.
I never felt alone as long as I knew she was my neighbor.
I still refer to her house as "Angela's  House"
