Funeral tribute to Archibald Ramdial from Leonard Ramdial and family



Archibald Ramdial was the oldest living Ramdial at 92, and the patriarch of the family.
he was a hard-working, industrious gentleman who loved challenges. When my dad was chronically sick, he would take him to the doctors in old harbor and Kingston for treatment.

When my dad died, he assisted us greatly, consoled us and made sure, we his young cousins were taken care of.  He had an endless and overflowing love for all his family in Jamaica, never forgetting us even when he migrated to the USA.

He would frequently speak to me at length of his strong love for his dearly beloved wife, children and grandchildren, telling me about their progress in life, their jobs, like and dislikes. I could always hear and feel the joy in his voice when he spoke of his family.

In his spare time in Jamaica, he loved race horses and I often accompanied him to Caymanas park to see his horses, Queenswood and Baby Grand race.

The last 40 years of his life he was a dedicated man of the Christian faith, always seeing the good in others and spreading love.

May the good Lord receive him into His kingdom.

Fair well my dearest Uncle Archie.

For this is not good bye , as I know that we will meet again .

My memories with you go far and wide ,
Our visit to Jamaica, our visit to Miami, your visits to England, immeasurable times spent together, especially during your cooking continue to remain  with me .

Our conversations, and your unforgettable smile , sense of humour, and amazing family stories especially about when you were all growing up in Jamaica,  sharing your memories of my Dad  as a child, but above all , your kind words of wisdom that will guide me  always.

You are now reunited with my dearest Auntie Amoy, the best cook known globally.
May you rest in peace together,

Goodbye Dear Uncle Archie, we have such fond memories of you.  Nobody has beat your cooking ..except maybe Auntie Amoy. We remember your visit to England. You will be missed.. but rest in peace now. Today I was eating oxtail and curried shrimp on the ship and started to dial your number to tell you that we can get some at Sangos when I get home. I then realized that I would never share a meal with you again.  It hasn’t sunk in yet that you are not here. I held your hand and told you it was ok to go but I was not ready to let you go. My heart is physically hurting because I miss you so much. You were as much a father to me as my own.  I will see you again “old man” when the time is right. My boys were helped to be raised right with your love and guidance and your heart. You will forever be in my thoughts and as each day passes I hope it gets easier to miss you. That first puffer fish I caught with you will stay in my memory forever. The boys will always have their fishing buddy in their hearts. You raised a wonderful man I am proud to call my husband. You have done this family proud and given your all the best you could. I will always love you and miss you. Until we see each other again…

In memory of Uncle Archie....
As a child growing up in Jamaica my dad would take me to visit Uncle Archie at his home in St. Andrew.  Uncle Archie always welcomed us with open arms.  He was the uncle you have to love, he was kindhearted, loving, supportive, and just so pleasant to be around.
My recent memory dates back to 2011 when my family and I visited uncle Archie in Miami.   I could tell he was happy to see us. He welcomed us with lots of food that he personally prepared.  And to think he was 80 at that time, so much energy! 
Uncle Archie, you are gone but will not be forgotten, precious memories lives on in our hearts.
