

She was born on December 31, 1929 in Jiguani, Cuba to father Joaquin Copons and mother Adelacia Corrales.
Asela immigrated to New York City in 1947. During her long life she worked as a manicurist, hair stylist, Certified Nurse Assistant, and as a teacher for Developmental Special Needs children.
She is survived by her son, Nicholas Godinez and wife Lilian, daughter Aselita Garcia and husband Manuel and her many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Asela was the matriarch of her family and was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a true and dedicated friend to everyone. She had a heart of gold and never hesitated to help friends and family with whatever they needed.
She valued spending time together with her family and friends and always enjoyed get togethers. Our mom made the best “CONGRI” in Miami.
Mom had a gentle loving heart full of joy and will be dearly missed. She will always be remembered because of her love, affection, and kindness for everyone and her zest for life.
Her family and friends are invited to attend her celebration of life on Monday, October 5, 2020 from 6 to 10 PM at Caballero-Rivero Woodlawn South, 11655 S.W. 117 Avenue, Miami, Florida.
Burial services will take place on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at 10 AM at the same location.
