Belkis Planas was more than a daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother — she was the heart and soul of her home. Born in Cuba, she grew up surrounded by her loving brothers and sisters, building lifelong bonds grounded in loyalty, compassion, and love. Even after leaving her homeland, a part of her heart remained there. She never stopped thinking of her family in Cuba and worked tirelessly to gather what she could to support them, always giving from a place of selflessness and faith.
From an early age, Belkis embodied generosity, kindness, and class. She carried herself with grace and old-fashioned elegance — always polite, always composed, and deeply feminine. Her manners reflected her upbringing, and her presence carried warmth and calm. She was a woman of substance, with a quiet strength that made others feel cared for and safe.
Her home was filled with love, laughter, and the comforting aroma of her home-cooked meals. She always kept her sewing things nearby — her thread, needles, and small scissors neatly tucked away and ready to use. If a hem came loose or a skirt was too long, she would fix it right away, stitching care into every piece she touched.
Belkis was a giver in every sense. She always offered advice when someone needed guidance, a helping hand when times were tough, and a good laugh when spirits needed lifting. Her words carried wisdom, her actions showed kindness, and her laughter reminded everyone that joy was still possible even in hard times.
She loved deeply and lived for her family. Her grandson was her pride and joy — the light of her days. She lived for him, finding meaning in his laughter, growth, and every milestone he reached. Her granddaughter shared a special bond with her too. Together, they would watch Zorro with her beloved husband, Abuelo Molina, before his passing. Those evenings were filled with love, laughter, and the warmth of family — moments that became treasured memories.
Belkis was strong, firm, and unwavering in her values. During her granddaughter’s teenage years, she stood her ground with love and wisdom, teaching lessons about respect, patience, and self-worth. She was the kind of grandmother who blended discipline with affection- never harsh, but always clear about right and wrong.
She had an eye for beauty and a love for life’s simple joys. She adored Betty Boop, loved Victoria’s Secret perfumes and lotions, and found happiness in something as simple as McDonald’s fries. Those little pleasures reflected her joyful spirit — she knew how to enjoy life, no matter what season she was in.
She was also a teacher at heart. Even though she didn’t speak English, she would ask her granddaughter for books in Spanish so they could learn together, turning every lesson into a moment of connection and love.
Her love for her husband was timeless, and after his passing, she was never quite the same. Even as a child, her granddaughter could feel the quiet emptiness left in her heart. Yet, Belkis continued to live with strength, faith, and devotion to those she loved.
Her devotion to her daughter was unconditional. She loved her endlessly, supported her without hesitation, and believed in her fiercely. She gave her heart freely to her brothers and sisters, offering comfort, wisdom, and selfless love. To her great-grandchildren, she was pure love — the soft embrace that made them feel safe, the laughter that filled their hearts, and the meals that tasted like home. Her presence was heaven on earth. Gentle, sweet, and full of life.
Belkis Planas was a woman of grace, generosity, and timeless class. She lived with faith, loved without limits, and gave endlessly. Though her life ended too soon, her kindness, laughter, and lessons will continue to guide the hearts of those she left behind. Her love is the thread that holds her family together — strong, beautiful, and eternal.
