Benito Armando Carmona

Benito "Benny" was born in Artemisa, Cuba on November 9th, 1946, the youngest of two children. Benny immigrated to the United States in 1961 and received his Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from the University of Miami. He passed away at home, under hospice care, on July 18th, 2023 in Miami, FL.

He was predeceased by his parents Benito "Chiquitico" Carmona (2004) and Matilde Gutierrez Carmona (2005) and his sister Norma Carmona Queen (2016). He is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Maria "Maruchi" Otero Carmona, his eldest son Benny F. Carmona, daughter Mariela Carmona Martinez and youngest son David A. Carmona. He was father-in-law to Cristina M. Carmona, Fernando Martinez, and Alina Carmona. He was also the beloved grandfather of Lily Carmona Navarro, Marianna "Nana" Carmona, Adrian Carmona, Abby and Fernando Xavier Martinez, and Amelia, Emma and Lucia Carmona. He was uncle to Charles P. Queen and Michelle Queen (2021).

Benny was a well-respected civil engineer, dedicated family man and good friend to many. He was known as an avid golfer and unwavering Miami Marlins and UM Hurricanes fan.

A funeral service will be held at Caballero Rivero Funeral Home located at 8200 Bird Road, Miami, FL 33155, this Sunday July 23, 2023 from 5pm to 12am.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.
