I now have no way of knowing when the best part of a movie is about to happen.

May John, Colleen, Shane, Sierra, Johnny  and all family find some solace in the wonderful life Brig led and the great person he was. He touched all he came into contact with his warm and engaging spirit and his unfailing generosity and kindness to others.

So sorry for our loss of a wonderful human being. Brig spread so much enthusiasm for life and his spirit shown so brightly to all those around him. He was such an integral part of our family as our kids were growing up. Everything was more fun when Brig was around. All of our kids, the oldest to the youngest, really enjoyed their personal relationships with Brig. Our prayers go out to his children and to Jonathan and Colleen. 

I am very sorry for your loss, and I can not imagine what your family is feeling. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with your family.  I am one of Bert’s sisters and my favorite memory is how when Brigham and Bert were  together you knew when they were planning something “good” by their smiles and outbursts of laughter.

In reading Joshua Dunham's beautiful memories, his words "he was an extension of our family" is filled with sentiment I share.  I am one of the siblings from another of his closest friends, Bert.  I witnessed between them a true friendship...One filled with adventures, support and laughs.  A memory that always had me laughing was when they went canoeing in the Everglades.   Having them reenact when Brigham and Mark's canoe flipped over into the dark Everglades water!  I'm told that was the fastest canoe climb, flip back up and board on record!   
Thank you, Brigham, for being such a wonderful friend to my brother.  You were a true gem, one of a kind.  My heart is broken for your suffering in the battle against cancer.  I am thankful your pain is over, but I wish you would still be here.   Rest in peace.

Brig had a special place in our family and always told our kids he was a brother from another mother:)
We believed it and loved the Wests for sharing him with us.

Big Red Brig was my 2nd big brother growing up. We had so many interests together as we spent many days, hours and nights together. I will never forget all the Canes games OB tail gates, touchdown pileups, movies at the theater, beaches, music, concerts, wind surfing, classes at UM, working out at Porky’s at midnight, car rides to Marco Island, tackle football games, shooting the basketball and tossing the football around,  Restaurants, Blockbuster movies nights, sitting in older Sunday school classes, passing and blessing the sacrament  together, seminary classes early in the morning, boy scout meetings, camping and  temple trips, sleepovers and his silly rhymes and conversations.
 This all  started when I was about 13 yrs old and lasted until I was married and had my first two children and moved away from Miami. Brig was the most unbelievably loyal friend one could ever have. He had my back too many times to count from helping me out of a jam when my Jeep broke down like it did many times to just being there when I was feeling down about the Hurricanes losing a game. 
He didn’t just greatly touch my life, but he was an extension of my family. I know my 5 siblings considered him a brother also. Our families were such great friends at that time. I’ll will always cherish all the Marco Island and Disney trips and birthdays celebrations because our birthdays are only 5 days apart.  We always had a saying at the end of our outings,  “good times, good times.”  I am also proud of him as he was a wonderful father to his kids.
I deeply regret not being in contact with Brig these past 11 years. We were never mad at each other. Somehow, I think we just drifted apart. I mistakenly had it in the back of my mind that we would some how get back in touch and our friendship would continue where it left off.
I would like to say to Brother and Sister West, Lowell, children and family, I am deeply sorry for your loss. I always loved Brig and I will miss him greatly.
