Carlos Blas del Amo led an incredible life that began on February 3, 1929. He passed away Monday, June 20, 2022, quietly at home. Carlos was born in Santiago de las Vegas, Cuba. He was born to Amelia del Amo Blanco and Carlos del Amo ("Minino"). Amelia was to remain first in his life until the day she died.
Minino left Amelia and Carlos when he was just a small child. Carlos started working incredibly early to support himself and his mother. In 1949 he met the love of his life, Olga Perez while working in the same factory. They married shortly afterwards and welcomed their first child, Gisela Lucrecia, followed by their second child, Carlos Cipriano. After being exiled from Cuba, they settled in Miami where their third child, Ramiro Eduardo, was born.
Carlos is preceded in death by his wife, Olga. They were together for over 72 years until she died on March 15, 2022. His memory lives on through his surviving family members including his sister Alida Dominguez, his brother, Roberto del Amo, his son Carlos C. del Amo and Mirka, his daughter Gisela del Amo and Myriam, his son Ramiro del Amo and Mai, his son Carlos L. del Amo and Giselle, his grandchildren, Christie del Amo Johnson and Walker, Carlos A. del Amo and Laura, Karina del Amo, Steven del Amo, Emma del Amo and Nicholas del Amo, along with his great-grandchildren Mia, Walk, Logan, and Lucas.
Today is another sad day for the del Amo family, the second pillar in our life has closed his eyes and has moved to eternal life. For those that knew our father knew he was one of a kind. He was battling dementia/ Alzheimer's with dignity and courage. Our father taught us how to be men and women with conviction, perseverance, and above all to treat everyone as he would want them to treat him, as equals. He came from very humble beginnings, but whatever he set his mind to do he accomplished. We miss him. These last few years with his disease process, we learned that unconditional love exists. Now that we have lost both of our parents within 3 months, we want to reiterate the importance of telling your loved ones how much they mean to you and every time possible tell them "I love you" and "thanks for being in my life." We will no longer be able to psychically hold and kiss our Mami and Papi, but they will always be in our hearts. We passionately believe that they are now together and enjoying eternal life with God. Till we meet again!!!
