Carlos M Rivera

Carlos M. Rivera, 86 years old, passed away on October 1, 2017, surrounded by family at Baptist Hospital of Miami, Florida. He was born on November 22, 1930, in Cayey, Puerto Rico. His parents were Santa Rodriguez and Pedro Rivera. He got married on February 14, 1953, and was a devoted husband for 62 years to his deceased wife, Gloria M. Rivera De Jesus. He is survived by his children Gloria E. Rogers, Carlos M. Rivera, Enrique M. Rivera, Pedro J. Rivera, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Carlos M. Rivera will be remembered for being a loving and attentive husband, father, and grandfather. He always thought of others’ well-being and continually provided for his family. Carlos served as a prayer leader at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. He enjoyed cooking his native Puerto Rican meals with sofrito and a lot of love. Carlos M. Rivera served in the U.S. Army in the 65th Infantry Regiment -- known as the Boriqueneers -- during the Korean War. He served from 1949 until 1956, when he received an honorable discharge. He received a Congressional Gold Medal of Honor for his service on April 23, 2016. We praise God that Carlos M.
