

He was born April 18th,1931 in Jagüey Grande, Cuba. His parents were Domingo Ortega & Josefa Solis. Both of them were teachers.
When he was young he enjoyed swimming at " el Ojo de agua" with his Dad, brothers and sister.
He met his future wife Bertila Brito while working at a pharmacy in Jagüey Grande. They were wed September 6th, 1953 and six years later they had a son, Oscar.
Before coming to the US he learned the new vocation of welding in order to provide for his family once he moved.
He worked as a welder at several companies until 1996 when he retired from US Foundry.
He was an all around handyman and picked up a lot of woodworking skills from his Dad which he passed on to his son Oscar. He was always supportive of his son's hobbies and projects.
In retirement he enjoyed watching baseball games and nature documentaries on TV. He also loved to go for walks with his dog in the afternoon. Above all he was a loving husband of 59 years and a loving father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife Bertila, son Oscar, sister Nilda, brother Jorge and granddaughters Yanil and Yulisa.
He was preceded in death by his brother Roger.
You will never be forgotten, rest in peace.
