I will always remember my dear Aunt. I know she is with the Lord.

My memories of Elena date back to 1967ish Boston. A delightful lady whose presence commanded respect, yet exuded warmth and approachability. We shared memorable moments as we worked within the Centro Cultural Cubano to plan parties and festivities. Elena was one of those people in life that had a quiet impact on those who knew her because of her pleasant demeanor and strength of faith. There is a special place in Heaven for Elena!

Siempre recordaremos tu sonrisa y alegria.  Tu manera de ver la vida tan positiva y llena de energia. Gracias por tu amistad y amor. Te llevaremos en nuestros corazones por siempre; fuistes una gran Dama. Hasta pronto, porque se que te volveremos a ver. La paz del señor este contigo. Con amor, Jenny & Eddy.

Elena was one of the best and most cheerful members of the organizing and operating committees that created the Centro Cultural Cubano in Boston.
We enjoyed her creativity, her intuition and her honesty, but most of all, her friendship.

We will always remember the joyful times with Ma. 

My mother Elena Pardo “ Ma” was born in  Galicia , Spain. She has 2 sisters and a brother,  Jose, (+) Ines (+) and Irma ( living in Boston). 
She travelled to Cuba at a young age. 
In Cuba she went to school in el Centro Gallego . She worked for many years as an executive secretary at Westinghouse in Cuba. 
She married Jose Pardo ( +) and had one daughter, Maria “Malena” Pardo Parker. 
She immigrated to Miami in 1962, eventually settling in Boston . She worked as executive secretary at the headquarters of the Gillette company eventually located at the Prudential Center. 
She participated in activities of the Boston Catholic Archdiocese , and presented lectures and CCD education trainings. 
She was a founding board member of the Cuban Cultural Center in Boston and participated in many events of the organization. 
She retired to Miami and continued her participation in church activities and teaching CCD classes. 
She was a faithful friend, a woman of faith and a loving mother and member of our family. 
She “ let her light shine” everywhere she went and to all people she met along her journey. 
She leaves her grandchildren and great grandchildren, their spouses, friends and relatives who remember her powerful and loving life. 

A la familia de Elena, reciban nuestro mas sincero pesame. Elena era muy querida por todos en el Centro Cultural Cubano de Boston. Nos acordamos mucho de ella y de su familia y por todo el esfuerzo y trabajo que puso ella y su familia en los anos formativos del Centro. 
Que en paz descanse y que alumbre para ella la luz eterna.

Elena Pardo Verez (Ma cariñosamente) born in Galicia , España in 1924 and our beloved grandmother passed away at home on Saturday morning. After leaving Spain, Ma later emigrated to Cuba and married Jose Maria Pardo (Pepe). Later with her only daughter (Maria) she flees communist Cuba, with only what she could carry and came to the United States. Ma grew up in Cuba and raised her daughter in Boston where she participated in the Centro Cultural Cubano and worked at Gillette. She later enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren in Miami.  She had lots of carisma and always looked on the bright side. She enjoyed music and dancing and felt Cuban to the bone.  She fed us, she accompanied us and she prayed for us everyday. A woman of faith, patience, humility, elegance, resilience and hope, our hearts are comforted in knowing that the gates of heaven opened to revive her and reunite her with the Lord where she will continue to pray for us all. Ma was love. We are okay Ma, we will take care of each other, be at peace.

When I told my parents about Ma's passing, my dad said, "I always remember her dancing!" As soon as he said it, I saw her on the dance floor with so much joy on her face.  My parents also remember how kind she was every time they came to pick me up from one of my many hang outs with Ma's granddaughter, Caroline. Ma had a unique way of saying my friend's name, with her Spanish accent and the rolling of the "R." It was and still is the prettiest way I've ever heard my dear friend's name said. I am so fortunate to have known Ma and to have felt her care whenever I was at her home. Sending so much love and comfort to Maria, Elena, David, Caroline, and her entire family.  She was truly a treasure and I have no doubt she's dancing up in heaven with Pepe!
