Enrique Calixto, born June 30, 1924, in Matanzas, Cuba, passed away on October 20, 2026, at the age of 102. He lived in Miami, Florida, and leaves behind a life remembered for steady purpose, generous devotion to others, and the quiet courage of a man who met each season with resolve.
Enrique married Aida Calixto in 1952, the love of his life, and they remained devoted to one another until her passing. Their marriage was blessed with two children. He is survived by his sons, Jorge Calixto and Luis Calixto. He was preceded in death by his wife, Aida Calixto, and by his nine siblings, all of whom went before him.
A lifelong baseball fan of the Yankees, Enrique found joy in the simple, enduring rhythms of the game and the loyalty it inspired. He also took deep satisfaction in working the land—planting food and spices, farming with the diligence of someone who understood that good things are grown through patience and effort. In these everyday pursuits, his hard work and selflessness were evident, and the example he set became a lasting source of inspiration to those who knew him.
Enrique was also an excellent domino player and especially loved playing with his twin brother, Jorge—moments that reflected not only skill, but the warmth of companionship and the value he placed on family bonds. Through a long life shaped by perseverance and an adventurous spirit, Enrique leaves a legacy of steadfast love, service, and strength.
