Fausto was an exceptional individual. Upon our initial meeting, he embraced me warmly and soon became one of my most steadfast advocates. Despite my inability to secure a New York State Senate win for him, he consistently expressed his immense pride in my efforts within a limited timeframe. He stood as my primary source of encouragement, and by far, my biggest cheerleader. While our acquaintance was only for a little over a year, I held him dear as a close friend. My visits to Miami will forever be altered without his presence. He exemplified admirable qualities as a son, father, and partner to Gladys, but above all, he proved to be a fiercely loyal friend. His absence is keenly felt. My thoughts are with all of you today.🙏🏻

Dear Diaz Family,
    I am so sorry to hear of your loss.  I really loved Fausto.  When ever I traveled to Miami especially when I was with my mother he and Amparo would take us for dinner and she and I will never forget him.  It is a very fond memory that we share always together. 
   He was a good teacher he was strong, kind, proud ,funny and always showed respect to family.  
  One story as I represented all american containers at one point, was I was in California and I had a sales call and I did some push ups in the meeting,  (long funny story) so I get a call from Fausto right after the call i was like 10 m out of the meeting.  And he said" I heard you did some push ups in your meeting today"  And i was thinking damn i am in trouble.  So he paused and said, "So! How many did you do? " and he started laughing.   He loved it.  
  I got the news this morning.  I am in Mexico city working today and I wanted to reach out and express my sadness.  But to also celebrate the love he spread to a lot of people.  RIP Fausto and I did 20 perfect push ups by the way!  :)  with Love- Nancy Rahn

Dear Diaz Family,

As I learn of the loss of my friend I can’t help but be overcome by sadness. Fausto was an incredible friend, advisor and  mentor. I will hold near and dear my memories and conversations with him.
I’ve shared some great emotional moments in my journy alongside Fausto and he was an amazing friend and supporter the whole time. I want the world to know that one of the good ones was taken to soon and will be dearly missed.

Fausto and I had often been in the same place, but had never met until recently.  I was impressed by his patriotism, his amiable temperament, his willingness to step up, his generosity, his complete lack of presumption, his sense of humor... Fausto had many admirable and endearing qualities. And crucially, it seemed like he might have the ability to unite people, because you couldn't help but like him as well as trust him. 

I left feeling blessed to have met him and hoping that this was the start of a long and fruitful friendship. We stayed in communication from then on, with the last texts exchanged on Saturday. And now he is gone.

My heart goes out to his parents, so well loved and respected in this community, and the rest of his family and loved ones. My most sincere condolences for this loss. It is a very hard blow. 

I can't help but think that we in Miami have just lost one of our best... someone we can be proud to call our own. 

God bless you, Fausto. I am honored to have known you, even for that very short time. I will remember you fondly and with great respect, and hope to meet you again some day. Meanwhile, I will pray for your eternal rest in God's glory, as well as for the consolation and strength of your family.

My sincere and heart-felt condolences to Remedios, Fausto, Sr., the entire Diaz family and loved ones.  I considered Fausto a dear friend.   He was truly a special person who touched so many lives with his authentic, caring manner and was instantly liked by everyone.  We had wonderful conversations, as we were very like-minded, which created a bond.  Fausto was such a gentleman, the kind that is nearly extinct. Reme, Fausto and all of Fausto’s family members: Fausto was a warm, sincere caballero who loved his familia and the fight for a free Cuba. 
He enriched our community greatly and he left us before his work on Earth was done. 
In another dimension and with the Lord to help him, Fausto is no doubt still doing all he can to help bring freedom, democracy and human rights to our beloved Cuba. 
I cannot imagine the pain and sorrow his family is feeling but I pray that one day his children and grandchildren will know that he lived for them and he felt stronger because of their love. 
May he rest in peace and may the Lord lift up the family in strength.

I only became friendly with Fausto a couple of years ago.  We connected through our mutual friend Manny P.  Yet in that short period of time, we became like brothers.  Fausto's humility, interest in others and his love of freedom, especially for Cuba and this great country that welcomed us, really set him apart.  I am truly heartbroken to see him gone so quickly...and at such a young age.  Fausto knew that I cared for him because I told him so.  We talked about many things including the fragility of life and our strong belief in the Lord.  I am certain that he has been welcomed by our loving G-d and I look forward to reuniting with him.  I didn't spend nearly enough time with him in this lifetime, but I hope to spend eternity enjoying his company, his laughter and his genuine friendship. RIP/EPD amigo.
