Miami, Florida - “Guly” Rodriguez-Torres passed away on January 21, 2021, in Miami, Florida. She was born on September, 29th, 1932, in Lajas, Cuba. The daughter of Paula Cedeño and Antonio Garcia. Guly was raised in both Candonga and Havana. She graduated from Havana Institute of Business, where she obtained a degree in Administrative Studies. She married Ramon Rodriguez-Torres MD, former Chief Medical Officer of Miami Children’s Hospital and was married for 67 years. Guly served for many years as a renowned advocate for abused children and was the co-founder of The Child Abuse Prevention Project of Miami, FL.
She loved to travel and was a gracious host for many celebrations and gatherings with her family and friends. She had a passion for cooking and was celebrated for her delicious recipes. Guly’s most awarded desert was: “Tres Leches.” She will be remembered for her faith, quick wit, her determined spirit, and her generosity to help people.
She is preceded in death by her daughter Carmen, her brother Luis and her granddaughter Bella. She will be missed by her husband of 67 years, Ramon and her children; Raul (Lisa), Rafael( Kim), & Raymond (Shannah) and 4 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.
Private Services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Live Like Bella Childhood Cancer Foundation.
