Guillermina Gonzalez

With great sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Guillermina Gonzalez, who peacefully left us on April 10, 2025. She was born on June 25, 1931 in Las Villas, Cuba and lived for the last 55 years in the USA (Union City, NJ and Coral Gables, FL).

Guillermina was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She is survived by her children Ermina Santaguida (John) and Emilio Gonzalez Jr. (Ivonne), her grandchildren Steven Gonzalez (Andrea), Jason Gonzalez, Emily Gonzalez, John Santaguida Jr. (Madeline), Mark Santaguida, Sarah Santaguida, great grandchild Andres, brother Elia Martin (Oneida), her sister Leonila Gonzalez (Gertrudes, deceased 2020), nieces and nephews, Magdalena, Carmen, Emilet, Edil, Erisdel, Augusto, Asnay, Victor, Isabel, Ramon, Marta, Eduardo, Mayelin.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ambrosio Antonio Martin and Isidra Pajon Cardena, her husband since 1956 Emilio Gonzalez (deceased 2001), her brothers, Ramon (Laudelina), Vitalio (Pilar), Pastor (Maria).

She lived a life full of love, kindness, and selflessness. She dedicated her life to caring for her family and was a pillar of strength to all who knew her. Her generosity and warm spirit touched the lives of many. She grew up in Cuba where she met and married her husband, Emilio and had 2 children. In 1971, she and her husband immigrated to America with their children for a better life. When she and Emilio arrived in the USA they worked very hard to achieve the American Dream. She was a gifted seamstress and worked in many different textile factories in NJ and enjoyed sewing and knitting for pleasure. When her husband developed Alzheimers in his 60’s she devoted herself to tirelessly taking care of him while always finding time for the rest of her family. She was a wonderful person. Her home was always open to all.

Con gran pesar, anunciamos el fallecimiento de nuestra querida madre, Guillermina González, quien nos dejó en paz el 10 de abril de 2025. Nació el 25 de junio de 1931 en Las Villas, Cuba, y vivió los últimos 55 años en Estados Unidos (Union City, NJ y Coral Gables, FL). Guillermina fue una devotada esposa, madre, abuela, bisabuela y amiga. Le sobreviven sus hijos Ermina Santaguida (John) y Emilio González Jr. (Ivonne), sus nietos Steven González (Andrea), Jason González, Emily González, John Santaguida Jr. (Madeline), Mark Santaguida, Sarah Santaguida, su bisnieto Andrés, su hermano Elia Martín (Oneida), su hermana Leonila González (Gertrudes, fallecido en 2020), sus sobrinos y sobrinas Magdalena, Carmen, Emilet, Edil, Erisdel, Augusto, Asnay, Víctor, Isabel, Ramón, Marta, Eduardo y Mayelín. Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres, Ambrosio Antonio Martín e Isidra Pajón Cárdena; su esposo desde 1956, Emilio González (fallecido en 2001); sus hermanos, Ramón (Laudelina), Vitalio (Pilar) y Pastor (María).

Vivió una vida llena de amor, bondad y altruismo. Dedicó su vida al cuidado de su familia y fue un pilar de fortaleza para todos los que la conocieron. Su generosidad y espíritu cálido marcaron la vida de muchos. Creció en Cuba, donde conoció a su esposo, Emilio, y se casó con él, con quien tuvo dos hijos. En 1971, ella y su esposo emigraron a Estados Unidos con sus hijos en busca de una vida mejor. Cuando ella y Emilio llegaron a Estados Unidos, trabajaron arduamente para alcanzar el sueño americano. Era una talentosa costurera y trabajó en diversas fábricas textiles en New Jersey. Disfrutaba coser y tejer por placer. Cuando su esposo desarrolló Alzheimer a los años 60’s, se dedicó a cuidarlo incansablemente, encontrando siempre tiempo para el resto de su familia. Era una persona maravillosa. Su hogar siempre estaba abierto para todos.
