H. Guido Diaz, M.D., born January 11, 1936 to Bonifacio Diaz and Amparo Landrian. He was born and raised in Ciego de Avila, Cuba. He received his Medical degree at Universidad de Salamanca, Fac De Med, Salamanca, Spain in 1964. He completed his residency training at the Cook County Hospital, Chicago. He served his residency training at Jackson Memorial Hospital. He continued to become a Professor at University of Miami School of Medicine for 38 years. During that time he rose to Vice Chairman of University of Miami Psychiatric Department, Jackson Memorial Hospital and a Fellow of American Psychiatric Association.
Survivors include his wife Nahid, two children, David and Susan, their spouses Apple and Hubert; grandson Steven and his brother Ivo.
Guido was a great man of substance, an intellectual, a person of great character, a lover of psychiatry. He had a wonderfully charming sense of humor always paired with a warm smile. He was kind and generous to every person he encountered. Most of all he was an "excellent" father and grandfather. His love will not be forgotten.
