Humberto Alfonso Ramos, age 91, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2024. Born in San Jose de los Ramos, Matanzas, Cuba, Humberto’s early years were spent on a family farm, where he cultivated a strong work ethic and a profound appreciation for his family.
Humberto’s passion for life was evident in everything he did. His hands, skilled as a carpenter, brought to life countless projects throughout Miami-Dade including private residences, commercial buildings, bridges, and the commuter rail system. He was most proud of his work on the Miami-Dade Metro Rail system and frequently spoke of the challenges with this project. A devoted Marlins baseball fan and a boxing aficionado, he relished the excitement and suspense of these sports. He also had a deep appreciation for vintage cars, and often reminisced on the cars that he drove during his younger years in Cuba. Humberto also had a deep love for music, finding solace and joy in melodies of his youth, such as Benny More, that echoed the rhythms of his life. Whether listening to his favorite tunes or sharing music with family, he embraced the power of song to connect and uplift.
Above all, Humberto cherished his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, whose warmth and laughter created lasting memories for those he held dear.
His unwavering support and guidance were a source of strength for his children and grandchildren, who will forever carry his love in their hearts.
Humberto’s legacy of hard work and devotion to family will continue to inspire all who knew him.
He is survived by his four children, fifteen grandchildren, and six greatgrandchildren, who will honor his memory by embodying the values he instilled in them.
