I know Irving since I have been appointed as the Honorary Consul of Belgium in Florida...14 years ago ! We have immediately both connected not only because of our French speaking heritage but also because of  a similar sense of humour and as a manner of fact , at any consular receptions , I was always looking  if  Irving had arrived already...
Two years ago, he came to my birthday party. He perfectly knew that I was not wearing tie anymore.So he brought me one...a fancy one ! 
Besides his contagious joie de vivre and his great sense of humor, Irving was also a great professional  whose devotion to the airport and to the community was unanimously recognized.
Irving will terribly be missed.
See you one day, Irving ! I  will be  looking for your smile up there ...

I am honored to have known Mr. Irving A. Fourcand. He was truly a good man and I will miss him.  My condolences.

My deepest condolences on the passing of Irving. I believe I was as shocked as everyone else. I saw him in the later part of last year at an event and he looked great and cheerful as ever. It apologize that I was not able to attend his celebration of life, but I tried very hard to be there.  My lack of presence in no way diminishes my sadness at his passing or appreciation for him as a person. Irving was always a happy guy and always had some smart comment to say whenever we saw each other. A traditional Cuban greeting like "Que pasa" would be blurted out with a smile. I worked with Irving at the aviation department for over 20 years, the last 2 years of my career as his supervisor. In those last 2 years, I really had the opportunity to work with Irving and learned to full understand and appreciate what he and the his capable staff did on behalf of the Department and how much he really loved his work. He did love his work but more importantly he loved the people he served. I really learned how well tuned into the needs of the diplomatic corps and specific protocols he was.  Through him I got to meet some very interesting people and I will always appreciate that opportunity. He remained a gentlemen even when confronted with adversity. It was a pleasure to have known and spend time with him. He is probably up in heaven right now working with Saint Peter helping to receive all the new arrivals with the dignity and properness they deserve.  He will be missed and I know his loss has left a large void in your hearts as it has for so many.  My family and I pray for strength and faith for you and your entire family and we pray for his eternal rest. Our faith tells us that we will see him again and we can bet on that. 

You can't imagine our profound sadness when we were told of Irving's passing. My time at MIA was made better each day that I came in contact with Irving. Always helpful, professional and loyal he was also someone I considered a friend. 
His enthusiasm was contagious and was always looking to make MIA a better place. I remember our conversations about there one day being a true Haitian airline that would visit Miami regularly.  We will miss you my friend, more than we can say in words. I'm thinking that as the French national team celebrated its World Cup victory they were looking up at the heavens  saying "Irving, this one is for you".  Emilio and Gloria González

I’ve known Irving since 1998 when my U.S. Air Force assignment brought me to Miami.  The two things I remember about Irving are how welcomed he made me feel as I began working as a Protocol Specialist.  He was a kind of mentor in the sense of how professional he always conducted himself and how much knowledge he was willing to share with me and my colleagues.  The second thing I remember was the outstanding first impressions he managed to leave with the Distinguished Visitors arriving in Miami.  He raised the bar so high that I wanted to be able to continue those impressions when assisting the DVs.  I would like to believe that I did it as well as he did.  He was the epitome of excellent Protocol professionalism.  Rest In Peace my dear friend Irving.

I was so sad to have heard of your passing. I find myself wishing that we had seen each other one more time.
Our days at MIA will never be forgotten, even though they were a long time ago.  There are many good qualities that stand out when I think of you, but the word " uniqueness"  is the most accurate.
When you spoke of your family, your face lit up, and I saw just how proud you were of all their accomplishments.

Irving was truly one-of-a-kind, which makes his passing such a deep loss.  I have always held fond memories of him from the time we worked together at MIA back in the 1990s.  I am so glad that I got to see him in April of this year.  We were so excited to see each other after 15 years (or more) and now that memory is even more special to me. I am so sorry to hear about the passing of my friend and colleague Irving Fourcand. We worked together for many years at Miami Dade County where he was ever so helpful with the processing of international guests, trade missions, and visiting dignitaries. He was always gracious, courteous, friendly and ever so helpful. I will always remember his energy, his smiles, and the enormous love he had for his job at Miami International Airport. My deepest condolences to  the Fourcand family in this time of sorrow. I knew and worked with Irving  for many years . He was an efficient chief of protocol at MIA, always available with a positive attitude and a smile on his face. I am deeply saddened by the news of my good friend Irvin’s passing. During the five years that I served as Consul General of Chile in Miami, I met Irving on multiple occasions. There wasn't a day where Irving couldn't make someone laugh. He was the most outgoing, always surrounded by people - often giggling in unison. Beyond his intellect and experience, was an incredibly kind human, the kind of nobleness you don't come by often. Though I didn't know Irving for very long, there are friendships that surpass timelines. Irving was an extraordinary man who impacted everyone around him. He was always unapologetically himself, and that kind of certainty will never fade. 

Irving, I can't believe you're no longer with us physically, but I believe your spirit lives on. You are so passionate, there is no way that fire can be extinguished. Quirky, dramatic, funny, honest, a true professional. I have known you for 18 years and will continue to carry you in my heart. Farewell my friend. The world is a dimmer place without you in it.
