

José Luis Jiménez, 66 died unexpectedly from a stroke this past Sunday, September 24 in Miami, Florida. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Elida Jiménez of Miami; his sister, Elda Rita Jiménez of Tenerife, Spain, his sons José Luis Jiménez of Queens, New York and Juan Pablo Jiménez of Miami, Florida; his daughter and son-in-law, Dalié Jiménez and Michael Sandor Koeris of Natick, Massachusetts; and his young grandson, Arden Roman. He is predeceased by his mother, Sinforiana Olinda (Arminda) Carballo and father, Buenaventura (Enrique) Jiménez. José Luis was born on November 12, 1950 in Artemisa, Cuba. He graduated from the University of Havana with a degree in electrical engineering. Along with his wife and three children, he left Cuba in 1988 and moved to the Canary Islands, where his family is from. In 1992, the Jiménez family moved to Miami, Florida, to give their children more opportunities. José Luis worked as a journeyman electrician in a number of companies in Miami, but in the last year, he had fulfilled his life-long goal of starting his own company: Jiménez Services USA, Corp. He worked tirelessly to give his family everything possible and was a loyal friend to many. An overnight vigil will be held beginning at 6pm on Friday, September 29 at Caballero Rivero Westchester (8200 Bird Road, Miami). The following day, Saturday September 30, a mass will held at 9am in St. Timoty Catholic Church (5400 SW 102 Ave., Miami). Following the mass, we will proceed to Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Cemetery (11411 NW 25 ST., Miami) for the burial. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Friends of Caritas Cubana, a nonprofit organization supporting the humanitarian and social service missions of Catholic Charities in Cuba.
