You were larger than life. Your joy and happiness filled a room. I cannot accept that you left this dance too early and my heart hurts that you’re gone. The thought of seeing you again always made me smile and the world is simply wrong now that you’re not here. I am forever grateful I had the privilege of knowing you.  My life was simply better for knowing you. Thank you my friend. I will always remember you (and smile). 

Joe Perez was my BEST friend. I'm sure  I'm not the only person to feel that way, but I consider myself fortunate to have known him and love him.  Rest in Peace until we meet 🙏 again, my friend ❤ 

I cannot imagine a Jazz Fest without Joe. He definitely lived large and was so welcoming and fun.  He will definitely be missed by so many. 

Joe you were a wonderful person all around, loved by so many.  So loving and caring, always the “life if the party” that’s for sure.  I Will never forget the fun times and lunch dates we all had.  You will never be forgotten.  May you RIP dear friend.  Love you and miss you.!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I like everyone else am stunned by the loss. I did not know you well, we always said hello in the hallways of our beloved South Miami High. I've watched you bring people together, smile at pranks you were a part of in those carefree days. I was always amazed by your commitment to keeping all those  Cobra memories updated, remembered and mourning when we lose one of our own and also celebrating the triumphs of our classmates.  You were very special. You will always be special. My heart felt condolences to your mom, family and loved ones. Rest in peace Joe.

All I can say is the world lost a fantastic human being… I never really knew Joe intimately like some of his closest friends but whenever I would see Joe, whether it was at the funky biscuit or in New Orleans at the radiators reunion shows, or even on the fairgrounds during jazz fest, Joe was always a sweetheart to me!  We have had many Musical encounters over the past 15 years or so that I’ve known Joe.  I will really miss him and his smile. He brought infectious passion for music, great food and his friends.  RIP Joe.  I hope to see you at a Radiators gig in the sky in about 40 years or so!

We’ll miss Joe and his big energy- he was a music lover and lover of life, great food, art and all there is that brings JOY...My husband and I would see him at so many music shows and he’d give a great big smile, then an all encompassing hug, he’d of course take a quick photo and we’d dance and just groove together... to lose Joe- well the world will have a little harder time turning now I think... Rest In Peace dear Joe...💛⚜️💛

My sincerest condolences to family and friends. Joe was a year ahead of me at South Miami Senior High. I have many fond memories of our time there. He took great care to keep our Cobra family connected on Facebook. Joe's big heart and generosity will never be forgotten. God bless and comfort his family during this time. 

Joe was my childhood and high school friend as well as neighbor. He lived behind my house and I remember when we were young teenagers how much he liked hearing me play Chopin, Beethoven and pretty much all the classics on the piano. He would make me feel special when out of the blue I’d hear him clapping and yelling BRAVO from his backyard.  He was funny, charming, free spirited and full of amazing stories. Although we didn’t speak often because life gets busy and unfortunately we run out of time, I would look at his fun posts on social media and saw that Joe was always that amazing  guy who will always have a special place in my heart.

Truly the Glue of our group, Missing you, life took you to young. Rest now in God's Perfect Grace, Glory and Peace. Til Valhalla. Your friend "Chang"

I first met Joe in 1996, at my first ever Jazzfest. If there was such a thing as a Fest family tree, he’d be at the very top of it. I’ve (literally) met hundreds of people who have become my friends, my family, my tribe...and it’s ALL because of Joe. I loved who he was, and he was all of it. Unapologetically. I miss you SO much, my brother. May we all inherit a little piece of his magnificent soul and carry it forward with us...

Years of friendship and in the blink of an eye you’ve left this world. There’s one thing for sure, you always lived life to its fullest. Living every moment! Cherishing memories with your friends. It shows in every picture. Remembering Jazz Fest, so many festivals, house parties, and your great musical taste. In the last 4 years even when I was going through my own health challenges, you still stopped by to check on me. You gave my son his first drum kit and his first electric guitar but most of all the gift of true friendship. No matter what condition I was in, you still showed up! And I’ll show up for you! We need a Brass Band to play through the streets and shout from the rooftop that you changed our lives because you were in it! You were the life of the party even when your life was challenged. May all your friends connect again in your memory and remember and rekindle the love that brought us all together in the first place! The simple love of music, friendship, gathering together and celebrating life! Thank you Joe Perez 💛 We’ll always love you🙌🌀🔆🙏🌻😇
