Juan de la Cruz immigrated to the United States in 1956 with his wife Clotilde "Reina" de la Cruz. They lived in West New York, New Jersey, where their only son Edric de la Cruz was born in 1960. After 10 years of living in New Jersey, Juan packed the family and headed to Miami where he would spend 63 years. Juansito, as known by his friends and family, became a celebrity in his own right. Everybody knew "La Isla de Juan". He loved the island in Biscayne Bay, enjoying it for over 20 years, launching his boat from Morningside Park in Miami. Always eager to bring new guests or returning friends which he would pick up from the dock.
Juan is survived by his only child Edric de la Cruz (60), Grandchildren Izzy (33) and Justin de la Cruz-Conley, Edric de la Cruz(31), Olivya de la Cruz (10), And Annabella de la Cruz (7), Great Grandson Julian de la Cruz-Conley (2 months).
