Juana M. Fernandez

My aunt Juana Maria Fernandez affectionate known to all as Lia was called home to the Lord on June 19,2026. She was 101 years old. Lia was born in her father's farm in a small town of Mantua in the Province of Pinar del Rio, Cuba. She lived a very humble life in that farm with her 11 brothers and sisters. In her late 20s she went to work in Havana in the Ministry of Justice. There she met her soulmate Jose Julio. Their courtship began in January of 1957 and they were married shortly thereafter on July 5th of the same year. Lia and her beloved Julio came to live their rest of their lives in the USA in 1964. She worked assisting her sister Felicia as a seamstress and helping with the care of her nephew Ernesto Perez-Carillo and her niece Magda Cosner. She was blessed with many grand nieces and grand-nephews whom she loved dearly. With her husband by her side she traveled many countries and enjoyed countless cruises. As a devout Catholic she sang in the choir of the Ermita de la Caridad alongside her husband. My aunt Tia Lia lived a full beautiful life may she Rest in Eternal Peace.
