Thank you Julia for giving me the opportunity to teach at Osher and always encouraging me to submit new ideas for classes. Your kindness and support meant a lot to me as I headed toward retirement from the faculty at UM and especially afterward when I missed the classroom. Thanks to you I found new students and a place where I felt welcome and at home. And a special thanks for letting me borrow your office to film my interview for that special tv program on St. James for EWTN. How gracious of you! Not surprising, though, because that was the way you were. Generous and caring. May God bless and keep you forever in His tender care.

We remember Julia from our days in Bogota, working with her at the Centro Colombo Americano. That was 1984-85. She was a warm and caring colleague and her commitment to teaching, learning, and cross-cultural understanding was inspiring. She was also a lot of fun! We were so saddened by this news, and you are in our thoughts.

I will always remember Julia. What an incomparable boss she was; she gave new meaning to the expression "hard work is its own reward." Yet she was equally dedicated where friendship was concerned. I had been away from work for a year and a half because of cancer, and I thank God that, when I came back, there was enough time for her to give me a hug that lasted long enough to make me realize what a truly great friend she was. I will miss her warmth and compassion, but most of all I will miss her.

I will always hold memories of Julia close to my heart. We were both friends and colleagues. I will always remember our many lunchtime chats. Julia, taught me about the University of Miami, and I will always treasure her friendship and ongoing support. You will be missed my friend.

I send peace and gratitude to a true professional.
Love and prayers,
