I knew Lourdes since 19. I recall a time when she purchased a red Mazda convertible. She had a car full of kids, and she was sitting on top of the back of the car. Since I was her insurance agent,  
I told her how dangerous this was and that I would tell on her to Hilda! She never did it again. She was such a rule living person with a huge heart. Unfortunately, mental illness takes its toll on so many of us, including myself. I remember the talks we had on her issues, and I did my best to guide her towards help. This is something only the person in need can do. Those left behind find this hard to believe and feel they could have done something. As a person who had the same happen to a much beloved family member and a sufferer of this terrible condition. I assure you. Nothing else could have been done. All we can do is know that they are in a better place.  Where there is no need to fight your mind every day upon waking up.
I truly miss her.

While it’s been quite some time that I see or speak to Lourdes, I remember her as a kind and wonderful woman and Mother. My heart breaks for her entire family, including her son, Diego, who attended STS and was friends with my daughter, Gabriela. May she rest eternally in Gods grace.
