Luis Hernan Caballero, 80, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2025, surrounded by the family he loved and who loved him deeply. Born on September 4, 1945, in Barceloneta, Puerto Rico, Luis was a lifelong pillar of strength and compassion whose presence and energy lifted every room he entered.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Socorro, with whom he shared a beautiful, adventurous, and unbreakable bond. Together, they built a family rooted in the values that mattered most to him – love, humility, and togetherness. He is also survived by his children, Yvette, Michael, and Anthony; his grandchildren, Joseph, Patrick, Luis, Victoria, Christian, and Alyssa; and his sisters, Elba and Irma.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Ana Luz; his siblings, Jose, Ramon, and Emilio; and his children, Luis and Christopher.
He enjoyed life’s simple pleasures – tending to his yard, quality time with loved ones, a good meal, sharing stories from his younger years, and celebrating the achievements of his children and grandchildren. Nothing made him prouder than watching his family grow, succeed, and stay connected.
A self-taught musician with a natural gift, he developed his passion for music from a young age after his mother gifted him his first conga. As a lifelong musician, he filled every gathering with rhythm, energy, and joy – creating moments his family and friends will forever hold close to their hearts. His love of music was not just a hobby, but the soundtrack to his life. Even in his final moments, he shared that same rhythm and spirit with those beside him.
Luis will be remembered for the way he made people feel. His gentle wisdom, warm smile, and steady presence were constants for his family. And he leaves them with a message he repeated often – a reflection of how he approached life and how he hoped others would too:
“Listen to the music”.
It was his reminder to slow down, feel each moment, and appreciate the beauty around us.
