OBITUARY

Luis Perez Vega

September 7, 1934January 6, 2021

Luis Perez-Vega was a man of pride and passion. He overcame the adversity of loss as an exile and flourished in his new community. He had a great love of family and friends, a passion for travel and culture, for history and civics and for his Christian faith. Luis was an avid reader and a tough adversary in political discourse.

He instilled in his three sons, Juan, Jorge and Jose, the imperative of living your Christian values, the importance of following your passion, and the need to spread kindness and help others. He placed great emphasis on education with his children and grandchildren, noting that “your education cannot be taken from you.” Luis was also fiercely independent and had an indomitable drive; he practiced his profession until his final days.

Luis is predeceased by the love of his life Marilu (Maria Luisa) and his parents Angela and Juan. He leaves behind his sons Juan, Jorge and Jose and his daughters-in-law, his sister Carmen Silveira and her husband Silvio, his sister-in-law Ana Casas Luque and her husband Roberto, his nieces and nephews, his nine grandchildren, his great-grandchild and an extensive network of family, friends and co-workers, all of whom he treasured. He will be sorely missed.

I have known Luis since I was 5 years old. He was a great friend and advisor to my parents for over 35 years and then to me until the very end.
He was smart, articulate and caring and I mourn his passing very much. Im happy to have known such a person and am sad there arent many like him. Ill cherish our times together and his advice and counsel for the rest of my life.
God bless him and his entire family.

I love you very much Luis. I have always felt that we shared a special understanding of one another.

I will miss seeing you and chatting with you and feel that I am a better person for having known you. I am consoled in having no doubt that you are now at rest and with God. You have been, and continue to be, invincible in my eyes.

Thank you for all of the great conversations, your company and the message. You will live in our hearts forever until we meet again.

Jose, Juan and George, Liz, Nicholas, Sofia, Gabriela and Analise, I am so sorry for your loss. How fortunate you were to have such a wonderful father and Grandfather !

I wish I could have been with all of you today.

With love and condolences,

Ana

Queridos primos:
