Magalys is survived by her children, Sandra Sierra, Lazaro Diaz de Villegas, and Alexander Diaz de Villegas; her loving siblings, Ana Maria Gonzalez and Alfredo Rubio; her adored grandchildren, Megan Sierra, Mathew DiPierro, Crissa (“Titi”) Diaz de Villegas, Jake Diaz de Villegas, Alexander Diaz de Villegas, Jr.(“AJ”), and Amanda Diaz de Villegas; her first great-grandchild, Maddox Reign; and her devoted life partner, Mario Aguilar. She is preceded by her mother, Angela Gonzalez; her sister, Lourdes Rubio; her brother, Gilberto Gonzalez (“Tato”); and her son, Reynaldo Alfredo (“Rey/Alfie”) Diaz de Villegas.

Magalys was born in Holguin, Cuba on August 9th, 1939. Even as a child, she was a devoted family woman who dedicated herself to the care and wellbeing of her younger siblings. In 1964, she gave birth to her first child, Reynaldo Alfredo (known to the family as "Rey" or "Alfie"). In June of 1969, Magalys fled Cuba to be with her mother, Angela, and her sister, Ana Maria in Miami, Florida. Soon after, Magalys gave birth to her second child, Sandra, in September of 1969.

It was in Miami that Magalys would come to meet and fall in love with another Cuban exile, Roberto Diaz de Villegas. Shortly after, the two would marry in 1970 and extend their family with the addition of her third child, Lazaro, in August of 1971, and then her fourth and final child, Alexander, in September of 1972. Magalys was a devoted wife and mother to her four children. Throughout the years, she worked various, and often difficult, housekeeping and childcare jobs while tending to the challenges of her family’s needs. She would continue this devotion with the birth of her first grandchild, Megan, in 1992 and subsequent grandchildren, Crissa ("Titi"), Jake, Mathew, Alexander Jr. ("AJ"), and Amanda ("Mandy").

Tragically, Magalys' first born, “Alfie”, died of a long-term illness in July of 1997. He was just 33 years old at the time. This was a painful loss for Magalys, who had dedicated herself to his care for months before his passing.

In March of 2020, Magalys was elated over the birth of her very first great-grandchild, Maddox Reign. She was able to enjoy a few months with her first granddaughter's (Megan's) newborn before she fell ill just a few months later. Although Magalys would struggle to survive in the Hospital's Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for almost 10 weeks, her battle ended on Wednesday, September 23rd, at 6:09 pm. Magalys died peacefully in her hospital bed, surrounded by her three loving children: Sandra, Lazaro, and Alexander.

Magalys' spirit will live on in all those she dedicated her life to unselfishly support and love. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those who were fortunate enough to have known her. Magalys will forever be in our hearts and minds.

A viewing is scheduled from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 3rd, 2020 at the Caballero Rivero Westchester Funeral Home located at 8200 Bird Road, Miami, FL 33155. At her request, a private cremation will be held thereafter.
