October 28, 1927 – October 2, 2026
Maria "Margarita" Pell (Silva), age 98, of Miami, Florida, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family, on the morning of October 2, 2026.
Born in Santiago de Cuba on October 28, 1927, Maria Margarita was the precious daughter of Manuela Garcia and Alfonso Silva. Raised alongside brothers who were doctors and lawyers, she developed a lifelong respect for education and hard work. Her faith took root during her childhood at Colegios Internacional del Cristo, “Los Internacionales,” becoming the unshakeable rock that guided her life; years later at el Instituto de Segunda Enseñanza de Santiago de Cuba, this spiritual foundation expanded into an intellectual one as she earned a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy and Letters and sparked a lifelong devotion to learning. From there, she began her career as a schoolteacher in Cuba, which she pursued for many years before immigrating to the United States, where she poured her heart into being a devoted wife and mother. An eloquent poet, she wrote and recited many inspirational pieces; and through her study of Scripture and her unwavering love, she remained the spiritual heart and strength of her family.
Spirited, entertaining, fashionable, resilient and persistently optimistic, Margarita was the true matriarch of her family. She loved unconditionally and lived for those she held dear— later stepping into the business world to help build her husband’s and children's business ventures, while actively supporting her grandchildren throughout their upbringing.
Maria Margarita was predeceased by her beloved husband, Angel Pell; her treasured son, Angel De Jesus Pell; her dear siblings, Matias, Juan, Carlos, Rafael (Felo), and Gertrudis (Beba); and her half-brothers, Rafael and Alfonso. She leaves behind a legacy of love and is survived by her children: Jorge Alfonso Pell and his wife Marta, Gloria Margarita Pell, Juan Carlos Pell and his wife Maria, and Coral Manuela (Pell) Carrick and her husband Matthew Joseph; her grandchildren: Damian Pell, Angelo Pell (Kristine), Alexis Pell (Desare), Yiliana Paramio, Irving Muller (Michelle), Daniel Peña, Erika Pell, Matthew Carrick (Madison), Joseph Carrick, and Kathryn Maria Carrick; her step-grandchildren: Ariel Brito and Luis Esteban Rendon; and her great-grandchildren: Antonio Pell, Gabriel Pell, Lincoln Pell, Julian Rivera, Rio Pell, Jackson Irving, Adri Muller, Eres Muller, Alyssa Lopez, Harlow Carrick, and Haizlee Carrick; she is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Private family visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Thursday, October 8, 2026. Services for family and friends will begin at 10:00 AM and conclude at 1:45 PM at Caballero Rivero Funeral Home, 8200 Bird Road, Miami, FL. Burial will follow immediately at Miami Memorial Park, 6200 SW 77th Avenue, Miami, FL.
May her soul rest in eternal peace in the presence of our Lord.
"El Señor es mi pastor; nada me faltará."
