Martha L. McMahon

It is with great sadness that we write to let you know that our mother, Martha Lucia McMahon, passed away peacefully on June 18 at the age of 83, surrounded by family. After fighting valiantly for a month since she first had a stroke, some subsequent health complications finally got the better of her.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, friend, and counsel who touched many lives with her kindness, warmth, and generosity. We are grateful for the wonderful memories she leaves behind and for the impact she had on so many lives. She was the mother of Patrick and Michael, the grandmother of Owen and George, and the mother-in-law of Laura and Leigh.

Although we are heartbroken by her loss, we know that Mom had a wonderful life, experienced many once in-a-lifetime travels and adventures, and she always lived her life the way that she wanted to – independent and in control. She loved her safaris, was fortunate to visit 6 continents, and had an enduring love with our father.

We will all remember her as she was – a remarkable woman whose kindness, wisdom, and compassion made a lasting difference in the lives of countless friends and loved ones. Whether someone needed advice, encouragement, or simply a listening ear, she was always there. She was an incredible mother and will be missed every day.

Thank you to all for the love, support, and friendship you showed her over the years. Your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated as we navigate the days ahead.

Mom requested to not have a celebration of life, so out of respect for her wishes, we are letting you know this way.

Queridos amigos,

Con gran tristeza les escribimos para informarles que nuestra madre, Martha Lucia McMahon, falleció en 18 de junio a los 83 años. Estaba en paz y rodeada de su familia. Después de luchar valientemente durante un mes después, de haber sufrido un derrame, algunas complicaciones de salud posteriores finalmente la superaron.

Fue una madre, abuela, amiga y consejera cariñosa que tocó muchas vidas con su amabilidad, calidez y generosidad. Damos gracias por los maravillosos recuerdos que ella deja y por el impacto que ella tuvo en tantas vidas. Era madre de Patrick y Michael, abuela de Owen y George, y suegra de Laura y Leigh.

Aunque nuestra pérdida nos rompe el corazón, sabemos que Mamá tuvo una vida maravillosa, con muchos viajes inolvidables y aventuras únicas, y que siempre vivió su vida como quería: a su manera y con una fuerte independencia. Amaba sus safaris, tuvo la suerte de visitar 6 continentes y sentía un amor duradero por nuestro papá.

Todos la recordaremos tal y como fue: una mujer extraordinaria cuya amabilidad, sabiduría y compasión marcaron una diferencia duradera en la vida de innumerables amigos y seres queridos. Ya fuera alguien que necesitara consejo, ánimo o simplemente un oído atento, ella siempre estaba ahí. Fue una madre increíble y la echaremos de menos cada día.

Gracias a todos por el amor, apoyo y amistad que le mostraron a lo largo de los años. Sus pensamientos y oraciones son muy apreciados mientras navegamos los días que vienen.

Mamá pidió no tener ningún tipo de servicio, así que, por respeto a sus deseos, se los hacemos saber de esta manera.
