Siempre en nuestro corazón

Con profundo pesar anunciamos el fallecimiento de nuestra querida tía Mélanie Vincent de Buy, quien partió en paz en su hogar, rodeada de su familia, el 5 de noviembre de 2025, a la edad de 80 años. Fue una hija, hermana, prima, tía y tía-abuela muy querida, además de amiga entrañable para muchos que se convirtieron en familia a lo largo de sus viajes por el mundo.

Nacida el 30 de marzo de 1945 en Guayaquil, Ecuador, Mélanie creció en la ciudad costera de Manta, Manabí, en una época idílica en la que caminaba a la escuela, paseaba en su amada bicicleta negra con sus amigos de la infancia, disfrutaba de sus comidas callejeras preferidas como los ovos encurtidos y adoptaba cada gatito callejero o pollito suelto que sus padres le permitían. Más tarde, colaboró en un libro conmemorativo del centenario de Manta, donde escribió: “...aunque he vivido en varios países, Manta siempre ocupará el primer lugar en mi corazón”.

Con sus característicos rizos rubios y brillantes ojos verdes, era la hija menor del ingeniero francés Pierre-Louis Vincent de Buy y de Bertha Rosa Moreira Ferrín, originaria de Chone, así como hermana de Berthalina Vincent Moore. Estudió en el Colegio Stella Maris y desde joven fue trilingüe: hablaba español, francés e inglés con fluidez.

A los 18 años fue aceptada como estudiante internacional en Bakersfield High School, California, donde completó su último año escolar. Allí hizo grandes amistades, perfeccionó su inglés y fue elegida Reina Mágica del Invierno por sus compañeros.

Con el deseo de continuar viajando y reencontrarse con su familia francesa, ingresó a su universidad soñada, La Sorbona – Université de Paris, donde perfeccionó su francés, estudió negocios y forjó amistades para toda la vida.

Su siguiente aventura la llevó a Turín, Italia, donde trabajó para las Naciones Unidas en lo que sería el inicio del Centro Internacional de Formación y, por supuesto, aprendió italiano.

Finalmente se estableció en su hogar definitivo en Miami, Florida, junto a su querida madre Bertha, a pocas cuadras de su hermana Berthalina y su creciente familia: su cuñado Kenneth y sus hijos Peter y Mélanie (“Cita”) Moore.

En Miami comenzó a florecer su pasión por los negocios y las relaciones. Trabajó en el Censo de EE.UU. de 1980, donde conoció a jóvenes políticos en ascenso, y más tarde se vinculó con la Cámara de Comercio de Miami, el Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo, la Cámara de Comercio del Sudeste de EU - Asia, y la Alianza Francesa de Miami.

Cuando el mercado inmobiliario de Miami empezó a crecer, se sintió cautivada por la oportunidad y obtuvo sus licencias en bienes raíces residenciales y comerciales. Viendo la oportunidad de ayudar a sus amigos y contactos de todo el mundo a invertir en la ciudad, fundó Mesa International Investments, desde la cual gestionó cientos de transacciones durante los siguientes 50 años, con muchos clientes fieles y recurrentes.

En su tiempo libre disfrutaba viajar por el mundo para visitar amigos, recibir visitantes de muchos países, comprar prendas de las últimas tendencias de moda y asistir a eventos en su querida Miami, pero sobre todo pasar tiempo con sus seres queridos, especialmente con su sobrina nieta Julia.

Mélanie —conocida cariñosamente como “Ti” por su familia— será recordada por su amabilidad, elegancia, impecable sentido del estilo y su elocuencia como políglota excepcional. Dejó una huella imborrable en la ciudad de Miami y en todos aquellos con quienes compartió negocios y amistad.

Le sobreviven su hermana Berthalina Vincent Moore, sus sobrinos Peter Richard Moore y Mélanie Moore Carpenter, sus sobrinas nietas Julia Ann Moore y Madeleine Marie Carpenter, y su sobrino nieto Vincent Frederick Carpenter, así como su familia extendida Hotchkiss: Jennifer Hotchkiss Sullivan, James y Maryann Hotchkiss. También deja a su inseparable compañero, su hermoso loro Manguito.

Nuestra tía Melanie fue precedida en muerte por sus padres Pierre-Louis Vincent de Buy y Bertha Moreira Ferrín Vincent.

La familia de Mélanie desea expresar su gratitud a los ángeles cuidadores que la acompañaron en sus últimos meses.

La velación se llevará a cabo en Caballero Rivero Westchester, ubicado en 8200 BIRD RD, Miami, FL 33155, el 22 de noviembre de 2025, en horario de 10:00am a 2:00pm.

La familia recibirá a amigos y seres queridos para compartir recuerdos en honor a una vida tan bellamente vivida y un corazón tan profundamente amado.

In Loving Memory

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Aunt Mélanie Vincent de Buy, who died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on November 5, 2025 at the age of 80. She was a cherished daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, and grand-aunt with many friends-who-became-family from her many travels all over the world.

Born on March 30, 1945 in Guayaquil, Ecuador, Mélanie grew up in the seashore town of Manta, Manabi, Ecuador during an idyllic time where she would walk to school, ride her cherished black bicycle with her childhood friends, enjoy her favorite local street vendor foods like ovos encurtidos (pickled eggs) and adopt every stray kitten and baby chick that her parents would allow. She would later contribute to a book celebrating the 100-year anniversary of Manta stating that “…although I have lived in various countries, Manta will forever hold the number one place in my heart.”

With her signature blonde ringlet curls and bright green eyes, she was the younger daughter of French Engineer Pierre-Louis Vincent de Buy and Chone native Bertha Rosa Moreira Ferrin, and sister to Berthalina Vincent Moore. She attended Colegio Stella Maris for grammar school and high school, and was trilingual – fluent in Spanish, French and English – at a young age.

At the age of 18, she was accepted as an international student at Bakersfield High School in California to complete her senior year. She made many new friends, perfected her English and was named Mid-winter Magic Queen by her peers.

With her sights set on continuing her travels and reconnecting with her French family, she attended her dream school, La Sorbonne – Université du Paris where she perfected her French, studied business and made several lifelong friends.

Her next adventure would take her to Turin, Italy where she worked for the United Nations at what was the start of the International Training Center, and, of course, became fluent in Italian.

She would then settle in her forever home in Miami, Florida with her beloved mother, Bertha, just a few blocks from her sister Berthalina and her growing family – her brother-in-law Kenneth and children Peter and Melanie(“cita”) Moore.

Mélanie’s penchant for business and networking began to blossom in Miami. She worked for the 1980 U.S. Census Bureau where she met many young, budding politicians, and later

joined the Miami Chamber of Commerce, the Inter-American Development Bank, the Southeast U.S.- Asia Chamber of Commerce and L’Alliance Française Miami.

As Miami’s real estate market began to boom, she was captivated and earned her residential and commercial real estate licenses. Seeing the opportunity to help her friends and contacts from all over the world invest in Miami’s growing market, she established Mesa International Investments and over the next 50 years brokered hundreds of transactions with many repeat, loyal clients.

In her free time, she enjoyed traveling the globe to visit friends, hosting visitors from all over the world, shopping for the latest fashions, attending events in her beloved city of Miami, but most of all spending time with her close friends and family, especially her grand-niece Julia.

Mélanie – known fondly as “Ti” by her family – will be remembered for her kindness, elegance, impeccable sense of style, and eloquence as the ultimate polyglot. She left an unforgettable mark on the city of Miami and on all those that she did business with.

She is survived by her sister Berthalina Vincent Moore, her nephews Peter Richard Moore and Melanie Moore Carpenter, her grand-nieces Julia Ann Moore and Madeleine Marie Carpenter and grand-nephew Vincent Frederick Carpenter, as well as her extended Hotchkiss Family, Jennifer Hotchkiss Sullivan, and James and Maryann Hotchkiss. She leaves behind her favorite companion, her beautiful parrot Manguito. She was preceded in death by her parents Pierre-Louis Vincent de Buy and Bertha Moreira Ferrin Vincent.

Mélanie’s family wishes to thank her angel caretakers that were there for her in her final months.

Visitation will be held at Caballero Rivero Westchester, located at 8200 BIRD RD, Miami, FL 33155, on November 22, 2025, from 10:00am to 2:00pm.

The family will receive friends and relatives to gather and share memories in honor of a life so beautifully lived and a heart so deeply loved.
