

Miguel A. Fernández Chardiet (Mike), a distinguished executive and respected leader in domestic international finance, passed away peacefully. He was born on February 12, 1939, in Havana, Cuba, and throughout his life exemplified talent, dedication, and integrity.
Miguel rose to the position of President of American Express for the Latin America and Caribbean Division, where his vision, leadership, and ethical standards left a lasting impact across the region. His career was marked by excellence and influence in both financial and consulting sectors. He held prominent positions at renowned organizations including Avon, McKinsey & Company, and Arthur Andersen, where he was widely admired for his strategic insight, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to excellence.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Miguel was a devoted and loving family man. He is survived by his beloved wife, Terri McGoldrick his daughter, Cristina Fernández; his son, Armando Fernández; and his niece, Lourdes Díaz, whom he lovingly raised after the early passing of her mother, Aleida Fernández Chardiet.
Miguel was a proud grandfather to Isabela and Demetri, and a cherished great-grandfather to a great-grandson, born to his granddaughter Isabela, daughter of Armando.
He resided for many years in Broward County a place he proudly called home. Miguel will be remembered not only for his remarkable career, but also for his wisdom, generosity, and the deep love he had for his family.
His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched, both personally and professionally.
