Milady B Fernandez

June 6, 1941 – May 3, 2025

Dr. Milady Belisa Fernandez, age 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May

3, 2025, in Miami, Florida, surrounded by her loved ones.

Born on June 6, 1941, in Partido Dajabón, Dominican Republic, Milady pursued

her passion for medicine from an early age. She graduated from the Universidad

Autónoma de Santo Domingo in 1966 and moved to Corona, Queens, New York,

where she completed her medical residency at Mount Sinai City Hospital Center

At Elmhurst from 1969 to 1972. In 1974, she relocated to Miami, Florida, with her

family, where she built a distinguished career in family medicine, dedicating over

40 years to serving underprivileged communities.

In 1990, Milady earned a Master’s degree in Public Health with a focus in

Epidemiology from Florida International University. She was known for her deep

compassion, tireless work ethic, and commitment to the well-being of others.

Milady was a woman of many passions. She found peace in the beauty of the

mountains and countryside, and joy in reading, singing, watching movies, and

listening to music. A devoted baseball fan and lover of Italian cuisine, she

especially cherished dining out with friends and family.

She is survived by her siblings Blanca Fernandez, Zunilda Campos, Raquel

Uribe, Gladys Fernandez, Aida Fernandez, Nieves Fernandez, Olga Nolasco,

and Guering Fernandez; her children Omar (Anne) Espinoza, Veronica Breeland,

and Milton (Christy) Espinoza; her grandchildren Danielle Grant, Cassidy Janho,

Lindsey Calabrese, Alexis Espinoza, Sebastian Breeland, Jonathan Espinoza,

David Espinoza, and Emma Espinoza; and her great-granddaughter London

Grant.

Milady was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Ceferino Fernandez Perez

and Aida Belisa Valerio Fernandez; her brother, Socrates Coneille; and her

former husband, Dr. William José Espinoza.

Dr. Fernandez leaves behind a legacy of strength, grace, and service. Her life

was a gift to all who knew her, and her memory will remain in our hearts forever.

Visitation and memorial services will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025, from

5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Caballero Rivero Woodlawn South Funeral Home,

Miami, Florida.
