September 4, 1938 – June 1, 2026
With profound sadness, but even greater gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we celebrate the life and legacy of Moisés de Paz, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, entrepreneur, and patriarch of the de Paz family.
Moisés was born on September 4, 1938, in the small town of Zaza del Medio, Cuba, where he learned the values that would guide him throughout his life: faith, hard work, perseverance, humility, and devotion to family.
Driven by a deep desire for freedom and opportunity, Moisés courageously left his homeland on August 10, 1979, seeking a better future for his family. After a brief stay in Spain, he arrived in Miami, Florida, on November 27, 1979, carrying little more than hope, determination, and an unwavering belief in the promise of America.
Like so many immigrants who came before him, Moisés embraced the American Dream with gratitude and relentless determination. Shortly after arriving, he began working as a vendor at the Opa-locka/Hialeah Flea Market, operating a small merchant kiosk. What began as a humble venture soon became the foundation of something far greater.
In 1983, through hard work, sacrifice, and an entrepreneurial spirit that never wavered, Moisés founded All Uniform Wear. What started as a modest family business would grow into a thriving enterprise that provided opportunities for countless employees, served generations of customers, and became a lasting testament to his vision and perseverance.
Yet for all of his business accomplishments, Moisés would tell you that his greatest success was not measured in stores, sales, or achievements. It was measured in family.
He was the devoted husband of Nelly de Paz, his partner in life and love for over 50 years. Together they built a family rooted in faith, resilience, and unconditional love.
He was the proud father of Mercy de Paz, Evelyn de Paz-Garcia, Elizabeth Baltodano, and Edleen Morera, each of whom carried forward the values, strength, and character he exemplified every day.
He was a loving grandfather to Victor Crespo, Viviana Crespo, Victoria Castro, Belinda Rodriguez, Bryan Garcia, Bradley Garcia, Bella Garcia, Nikki Baltodano, Nina Baltodano, Nelly Baltodano, Nancy Baltodano, Catia Morera, Cathleen Morera, Christian Morera, and Carolina Morera.
He was also blessed to become a great-grandfather to Logan Castro, Jace Castro, Luka Rodriguez, and Leo Rodriguez, who brought him immeasurable joy and pride.
Those who knew Moisés will remember a man who never forgot where he came from. He understood sacrifice because he lived it. He understood gratitude because he had experienced hardship. He believed in opportunity because he seized it. And he believed that family was life’s greatest blessing.
His journey from a small town in Cuba, through exile, to building a successful life and business in America stands as a powerful example of courage, faith, perseverance, and the enduring spirit of freedom.
While we mourn his passing, we rejoice in the extraordinary legacy he leaves behind—a legacy not only of entrepreneurship and achievement, but of love, integrity, generosity, faith, and family. His fingerprints remain on every life he touched, every opportunity he created, and every lesson he taught.
Moisés often demonstrated that true wealth is not found in what we accumulate, but in the lives we impact and the family we leave behind.
Today, his family honors him not only for what he built, but for who he was: a devoted husband, a loving father, a cherished grandfather and great-grandfather, a courageous immigrant, and a man whose life embodied the very best of the American Dream.
Though his earthly journey has ended, his legacy will live on for generations.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Rest in peace, Moisés. Your work here is complete, your legacy secure, and your love eternal. You will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always loved. ❤️
