

A limb has fallen from the family tree. It is with great sadness that the Ruiz family announces the passing of Nestor Ruiz, age 77 from Miami, FL., on August 10, 2020. Nestor was born in Guayanilla, PR. He moved to New York in 1962 and later met his future wife, Nixida, who was vacationing from Puerto Rico. His exact words were “that girl is going to be my wife”. Once Nixida returned home to Puerto Rico, Nestor shortly followed. They later wed in 1968 and returned to New York for nine years. In 1977 they moved to California where they lived for nine months before moving to Miami, FL. In 1980, they moved to Tampa where they owned a clothing manufacturing company for 10 years. He later returned to his final home in Miami where he studied, taught and served as a pastor. Nestor also worked in customer service for Braman dealer. Nestor passed peacefully surrounded with family members by his side. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Nixida Ruiz, three sons Samuel (Sophia) Ruiz, Manuel (Jackie) Ruiz, and Lemuel Ruiz, 3 grandchildren Josue Ruiz, Antony Ruiz, Mateo Ruiz and 1 great grandchild Stella Ruiz.
A celebration of Nestor’s life will be held on Saturday August 15, 2020 fro 2 pm to 9 pm at Caballero Rivero Westchester 8200 Bird Road, Miami, FL. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Nixida Ruiz and sent to 10219 SW 4th St., Miami, FL 33174.
