She is survived by her devoted son, José Enrique Cedeño, and his loving life partner, Joseph Stephen Costa; her beloved brother, Armando Guerra; her treasured nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many close and lifelong friends.
Born and raised in Bayamo, Oriente, Cuba, Paula was the daughter of José and Elodia Guerra. She emigrated to the United States in September 1966, living in Elizabeth and Perth Amboy, New Jersey, until relocating to South Florida in 2017.
In Bayamo, she met José Cedeño, the love of her life, in 1946. They married in June 1956 and shared an extraordinary bond for 73 years—brought to life through music, dancing, and joyful gatherings with family and friends.
Affectionately known as Piola, she was known for her generous heart and lifelong commitment to helping others. Her passion for service and unwavering support of those around her were hallmarks of her life and legacy.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 30, at Caballero Rivero Sunset Funeral Home, followed by entombment alongside her late husband at Woodlawn Park Cemetery – North, in Miami.
In lieu of flowers, the Cedeño family respectfully requests donations in Paula’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in support of their mission to advance cures and means of prevention for pediatric catastrophic diseases.
