Paula Steele of Miami Springs, Florida passed away on June 16th, 2018. She is survived by her two grand-nieces, Lisa and Kira, and her great grand-nephew Aleks. She was the daughter of Mattie and Elma Roberson. Paula grew up in the Baptist Church. She had a gift for music. She often sang at church, played the piano and for a time was an opera singer. She sang in the Orange Bowl several times for a large crowd. She graduated from the University of Miami. Later she would go on to obtain four masters degree in education. Paula was married for a few years. In the late 1950’s, Paula began her teaching career. She started as a music teacher and later taught high school. One year she even taught in Japan. Most of her career was spent teaching elementary school in Broward County. She enjoyed teaching and had a strong belief in education. Over the years, she raised her two great-nieces, Lisa & Kira. Some of her hobbies included astrology, crafts, sewing and needlepoint. She had several cats throughout her life that she loved. In 2006, Paula retired after almost 50 years of teaching. She spent her last 12 years caring for her sister Thelma, whom she loved dearly. They often spent time together reading, doing puzzles and talking about the “old times.” She enjoyed a good movie and a glass of wine. Paula loved and doted on her great grand-nephew Aleks in her final years. In 2018, she passed away. Paula will always be remembered as a loving aunt, friend, teacher and sister. She touched and helped so many people in her life.
