Peter Abraham Lees

It is with a collective heavy heart that we, Diana and Rich Schmidt, Matthew and Susan Lees, and Rhonda Lees, announce the passing of our brother Peter A. Lees on Friday, August 6, 2021, a week shy of his 52nd birthday. We are all devastated by this tragic loss.

Pete was a terrific son to our late proud parents, Joan and Richard Lees, wonderful brother and uncle and close friend to many.

He was accomplished in numerous ways and recently became involved in his lifelong dream of producing movies and television shows.

After graduating from the Hackley School, he attended Brown University and later Yale University School of Management, earning an MBA in marketing. He lived abroad for many years -- Taiwan, Singapore, Tokyo,

Paris -- and traveled to other exotic places, eventually settling in Miami, far from the cold and snow of the Northeast.

He easily made friends in each sphere of his life and in every place he lived, introducing them to family and his other friends, creating a large and vibrant network of people who knew and loved him.

Pete loved movies of all kinds and was proud to have brought several to life, spoke Mandarin Chinese, Japanese and some French, was a voracious reader, and amused us all with his witty, sarcastic banter. He was also in the food and beverage business, and was known for trying many different foods and diet options, and keeping us posted with too many details, sometimes with photos.

In the spirit of Pete’s love of movies and the dreams that they inspire, we hope that when you find yourself in a theatre and the

house lights dim, you’ll think of Pete and the stories he had yet to share.

Peter Abraham Lees is survived by Diana (Rich) Schmidt, Rhonda Lees, Matthew (Susan) Lees, nephews Joshua and Jacob Lees, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. May his memory be for a blessing.
