On May 9, 1959, Rene married his childhood sweetheart, Shirley, who predeceased him in 2016. We rejoice that they are together again.
Rene was blessed with three children: Rene, Tony (Julie), and Janine (Jerry). His memory lives on with each of his grandchildren: Desiree, Anthony, Victor, and Jessica. He was also blessed with four great-grandchildren: Hector, Kailani, Jordyn, and Alana.
He retired from Metro-Dade Transit in 2000. Rene was loved by everyone he met. He had a way with words and put everyone in a good mood through laughter and sincerity. A proud supporter of his hometown teams, he was a big University of Miami Hurricanes fan. His presence will be missed by all who knew him.
