Richard (Richie) Joseph Aquilino, age 56, of Miami, Florida, passed away on May 16, 2026. Richie is survived by his devoted parents, Robert and Xiomara Aquilino; his loving sister, Nilda Aquilino; his brother, Robert Aquilino Jr., and his wife, Thezia, along with their three children, Joey, Tiffany, and Kaycie; his aunts and uncles, Jacqueline B. Toporoff, Patricia Sakal, Michael Sakal, Lawrence and Barbara Aquilino, and Thomas Aquilino and Allison Montovelli, Alfonso and Nancy Fernandez; as well as many beloved cousins and lifelong friends.
Richard proudly served in the Army as a Military Police officer and served one year in South Korea and later in Panama. Upon returning home, he worked as a self-employed construction and carpentry contractor. Richie was actively involved with the West Dade Florida Moose Lodge 1825, where he was elected to serve one term as President, a role he proudly and joyfully fulfilled with his infectious smile and memorable laughter.
Richard had many interests, ranging from cheering for the Miami Dolphins football team to camping with friends and spending time caring for his friend's children. One of Richie's greatest qualities was his unwavering devotion to the people in his life, from childhood friendships through adulthood. There was nothing Richie would not do for his family, but specially for his friends.
After experiencing the loss of a friend who passed away while waiting for an organ transplant, Richie made the decision to give others a chance at life. Even in this, he showed the kindness and generosity that defined who he was, always thinking of others and giving from his heart.
Perhaps one of Richie's deepest loves was for his dog, Major, whom he loved unconditionally every day. To honor Major, Richie had a friend paint a portrait so he could keep it beside Major's ashes.
Finally, Richie is now beyond pain and suffering but at peace. We can all find comfort in knowing that he is resting peacefully and receiving the peace he so deeply deserves. He is looking upon his incredible and devoted family, specially his parents and friends reminding them that he is now in a " perfect sleep."
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to PAWS4YOU Rescue in honor of Richie's memory and his deep love for animals.
