

Captain Richard (Dick) P. Blackburn Sr, age 78 flew west on Sunday April 1st, 2018 and is living in eternity with our lord and savior Jesus Christ. He was born in Huntington, W. VA. on Feburary 1st, 1940 to his parents John W. Blackburn and Bernice L. Blackburn. Richard has been married to his longtime love Natividad de Jesus (Chui) Blackburn since 1984. He resided in Miami most of his life. Richard attended the University of Miami while flight instructing at Opa-Locka Airport. He also served 5 years in the Air Force reserves at Homestead Air Force base. Richard went on to have a very impressive aviation career as a Captain with National Airlines (1965-1980) PanAm (1980-1991) and United Airlines (1992-1997). Captain Blackburn flew all kinds of planes but most notably was the Boeing 747 Jumbo Jet. After his piloting career career he cruised extensively throughout the oceans and seas with family and friends. He was a member of the PanAir Flying Club and National Airlines Buccaneers. Richard has worshipped at Cornerstone Bible Church in South Dade for over 20 years, where has many friends. Richard is survived by his spouse Chui Blackburn, his Son Richard Blackburn Jr, his Daughter Sandra J. Silver, his Son-in-Law Robert Silver, his former spouse and friend Diane L. Blackburn, Grand-dogs Baxter and Jaxson.
