It is with deep heartbreak and boundless love that we announce the passing of Robert “Rob” German Zapata, who left us far too soon on Friday, June 27, 2025, at the age of 45 in Miami, Florida.
Rob was born on July 3, 1979, and from the very beginning, he lived with an open heart and a generous spirit. To know Rob was to feel seen, to laugh deeply, and to be reminded of what truly matters—family, friendship, loyalty, and love.
He was the devoted husband of Catalina (Cathy) Bain-Zapata, his partner in every sense of the word. Their love was deep, steady, and joyful—an anchor in the lives they built together. Rob was also a proud and loving father to their son Ryan and daughter Catherine, whose smiles lit up his world.
Being a dad was his greatest pride, and he poured his whole heart into being with his children, skating, dancing, going out to the ocean, doing fireworks (his favorite), teaching them a little bit about everything he knew, and heartfelt talks about what the importance of love and family that only a dad like Rob could offer.
Rob is also survived by his parents, German and Iliana Zapata, who raised him with love, strength, and a sense of purpose. He carried their values throughout his life. He leaves behind his siblings Daniel and Kenneth Zapata, extended family, and a wide circle of friends and colleagues who became like family—people who were drawn to his warmth, humor, and unwavering kindness.
Rob had that rare ability to make people feel at ease. He listened closely, laughed easily, and gave freely. Whether you knew him for decades or just a few moments, you knew you were in the presence of someone special.
Though his time with us was far too short, the love he gave and the life he lived left a mark that will never fade. His laughter, his wisdom, and his gentle strength will echo in the lives of those who loved him. We will miss him every single day—but we will carry him with us, always.
Remember Rob by living fully, loving deeply, being generous, accepting and taking care of one another just as he would take care of everyone he came across with. He will be looking over us from heaven with a full heart. 🪽🕊️
