Roberto Finale was born on July 8, 1932, in Quemado de Güines, Las Villas, Cuba, one of nine siblings, to Emérito Finale and Cruz Maria, and lived a full life defined by dedication, strength, love, and an unwavering commitment to his family.
He immigrated to the United States on September 1, 1962, and made Miami, Florida his home. He became a proud United States citizen during the country’s Bicentennial at the Orange Bowl, a moment of great pride for him.
He passed away peacefully at home on April 25, 2026, leaving behind a family who will feel his absence deeply in both the big celebrations and the everyday moments.
Roberto was truly larger than life. He was a source of strength to those around him, everyone’s rock, and someone whose wisdom was relied on and respected. He grounded his family and was someone they could always turn to, a true pillar and always at the head of the table. He worked hard throughout his life and took pride in what he built, instilling that same work ethic in his family.
On August 6, 1956, he married Angela (Leal) Finale, the love of his life. Together they built a marriage that spanned decades and a family that became the center of his world. His love for Angela set an example of unconditional love for their family.
Roberto loved baseball and was a loyal fan of the Miami Marlins, and he also enjoyed mariachi music.
More than anything, Roberto instilled in his family the values he lived by: to work hard, put family first, and never take time together for granted. Those lessons will carry on through each generation and remain one of his greatest legacies.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Angela; his children, Angela Bernstein and Roberto Finale Jr. (Mayra); his grandchildren, Arielle Register (Griffin), Aaron Bernstein (fiancé Jessica), Adam Bernstein (Anna), Roberto Jose (Lauren), and Manuel Finale; and his great-grandchildren, Ella and Micah (whom he affectionately referred to as “the bibijaguas”), Austin, and Elizabeth, with Beaux on the way.
To his family, he was their abuelo, their superhero, and the heart of it all.
His loss is immeasurable, and he will be missed beyond words. He lives on in the family he built and will forever watch over all of us.
In lieu of flowers, we would like that donations be made to St Jude Children's Hospital.
