After long careers as an entrepreneur and a member of the New Jersey State Parole Board, Rolando became a dedicated clinical lead nurse, bringing compassion and a positive attitude to the care of his patients. His love of baseball and football—both of which he played at Hopatcong High School—as well as travel and fitness, was known to all. He approached life with wholehearted commitment and without fear. That is how he will be remembered by all who knew him.
Rolando was predeceased by his parents, José Gomez-Rivera and Gladys Gomez-Rivera (née Perez Céspedes). He is survived by his loving children, Andrew J. Gomez-Rivera and Amanda K. Gomez-Rivera; his wife and favorite travel partner, Linda Gomez-Rivera; his adored Barnsie; and his stepson, Benjamin. He also leaves behind his beloved brothers, Jose Gomez-Rivera (Maria Antonia) and Jose Alejandro Gomez-Rivera (Teresita); his dear nephews, José, Lorenz, Alexander, José, Esteban, Marco Antonio, and Leonardo; and his wonderful cousins and extended family.
A service will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2026, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Caballero Rivero, 8200 Bird Road, Miami, Florida.
He will be forever loved, deeply missed, and never forgotten.
