Rose E Garcia

The family of Rose E. Garcia-Gil of Miami, Florida, is saddened to announce her passing on May 15, 2026 at the age of 88. She was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico on June 11, 1937 although her family moved to New York City soon after. Rose is survived by: her children and their spouses; Anthony N. Torres (Denise), Linda Torres Phillips (John), Celestino Roldan Jr. (Carmen), Liza I. Boykin (Terry); 12 grandchildren,

15 great grandchildren, her sister, Tonia Carr; and, many nieces and nephews. Rose was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Francisco Gil; her late husbands, Celestino Roldan, and Nortaly Torres; her parents, Antonio Garcia and Maria Padilla Garcia; her sisters, Crusita, Marina, and Francis; her brothers, Paco, Jimmy, Fernando, and Joe. Despite some losses and obstacles in her life, Rose became a successful businesswoman and entrepreneur. However, she said her greatest accomplishment was her children and family, who have always been the joy in her life. Rose was an extraordinary woman, mother, grandmother, wife and friend. She met life’s challenges head on, always doing what had to be done to keep her family together. Rose worked hard, but by doing so, she impressed upon her children the value of a good work ethic. While managing a restaurant, she met her future husband, Francisco Gil, an entrepreneur himself. Francisco was more fondly known as “Pancho” to the family, and with his arrival, life changed for the better. Rose and Pancho opened a Mexican restaurant in Washington, D.C.; then moved to New York where they opened a Pizzeria; and then, on to Florida where they opened two successful auto parts stores. Through it all, Rose put the family first, maintaining a positive attitude and always demonstrating her love for God, life, family, and of course, Puerto Rico. She loved to travel the world, but was happiest when playing cards or dancing with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Rose will be missed by all who knew and loved her. May God comfort her and her family always.
