Shirley was born on February 1, 1944, in Portland, Jamaica, to the late Stanley and Icilda Fuller. She was the eighth of nine children. She received her elementary education at Seaside School and attended Happy Grove Secondary School for her high school education.
In 1977, Shirley migrated to the United States, first settling in New York before making her home in Florida. Determined to further her education, she attended Robert Morgan Technical College, where she earned her Secretarial Diploma. She went on to work at Miami Children’s Hospital as a dedicated unit secretary until her retirement. Shirley was known for being outstanding, dependable, and committed to her work.
Several years after retiring, Shirley’s physical and mental health began to decline. She eventually became blind and lost her independence, coming under the devoted care of her only child, her son Dwight. Dwight, along with his son Eric, worked tirelessly to ensure she was well cared for. In time, she was placed under the care of Vitas and Homestead Manor Nursing Home, where she received exceptional support and compassion.
On February 11, 2026, at 10:20 p.m., Almighty God, in His infinite wisdom and power, gently called Shirley home to her eternal rest.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving son, Dwight Haywood; her grandson, Eric Haywood; her brothers, Lloyd and Eric Fuller; her sister-in-law, Muriel Fuller; her sister, Collen; her nieces, Sharon, Sonia, Marjorie T., Sandra, Marsha, Colleen R., Natalie, and Icilda; her nephews, Michael, Mark, Paul, Michael David, Charles Fuller, Rudy, Ken; and many great-grandnephews and great-grandnieces.
Shirley will be remembered for her strength, resilience, and the love she shared with her family and all who knew her.
