With deep love, we announce the peaceful passing of our dad, Tony G. Dizon on Aug 20, 2025 at the age of 85. He was born on April 25th in San Jose, Camarines Sur in Bicol Region, Philippines. Tony was the son of Juan Dizon and Matea Garchitorena Dizon. He was the oldest of seven siblings. His early schooling included attending Naga Parochial School and Ateneo de Naga. He then graduated from Far Eastern University in Manila and attained his bachelor of science in commerce. He later achieved a Masters in Business Administration from Nova University in Florida.
He began his career in the Philippines as a pharmaceutical sales representative and then immigrated to Canada in order to further his aspirations. While visiting a friend in NY, he met and later married our mom, Felicitas "Fely" (Alvero) Dizon in 1972. They began their life together in upstate NY, where their daughters, Felice and Marivic were born. The frigid temperatures and daily snow shoveling in NY prompted a move to sunny Miami. He continued to have success in his career, including receiving multiple local and regional awards, along with achieving the highest recognition in his profession- the President’s Club award.
He strongly believed that success was something everyone could strive for; Whether it was verbal encouragement or practical advice, family and friends knew Mr. Tony, Manoy, Tito or Dad would be there to support their dreams, aspirations and goals. He relished sharing ideas, often asking if he could help and would celebrate their successes. He paved the way for several of his siblings to immigrate to America to pursue their own dreams. He also instilled the value of education in his daughters, who went on to pursue higher education with careers in law and psychology, respectively.
Our dad was a life-long learner. He read the newspaper daily and also enjoyed books on finance and travel. He traveled with family and friends by car, plane and cruises throughout the US, Canada, Europe, Central America, and South America. When his sight changed, he adapted by listening to the news. When he traveled, he avidly listened as docents and guides would describe the historical sites and landmarks. He also often indulged in his favorite foods including Chinese food, acai bowls and fish dishes.
Our dad was an investor at heart. He strongly believed in financial security. CNBC was one of his favorite new stations. But his greatest investment was in people. From routinely checking in with his daughters to calling relatives and friends, he cultivated his relationships.
Tony was preceded in death by his wife, Felicitas “Fely” Dizon, his parents, Juan Dizon and Matea Garchitorena Dizon, and his brother Wilfredo “Fred” Dizon. He is survived by his daughters, Felice Dizon & Marivic Dizon, his son-in-law, Arnold Paguio, and his granddogs, Hemingway and Jethro. He is also survived by his siblings, Luz Castillo, Silvestre “Beting” Dizon, Francia “Franz” Obias, Juan Jr. “Jun”Dizon, and Cesar “Sarsi” Dizon and numerous extended family members.
