Verlene U Grant

Verlene Ursilla Grant, was born in Mariah, Tobago, one of the twin islands of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. She was the daughter of Hetty Jack and Arthur "Archie" Grant.

Verlene was the eldest daughter in a family of five children. She was preceded by her older brother, Vernon, followed by her second brother, Llewellyn, and her two younger sisters, Elsie and Yvonne.

When Verlene was about eight years old, the family relocated to Trinidad. A few years later, their father passed away while the children were still very young. The eldest sibling was only 14 years old. At an early age, Verlene's role changed dramatically as she lovingly helped her mother raise her younger siblings, sacrificing her own education to support her family.

Her unwavering dedication, immense strength, and deep faith were evident throughout her life. She was a hardworking, caring, and selfless woman whose love for her family was reflected in everything she did. She did mission work, and visited the sick in the hospital. She was very committed to her faith and love of God, and it showed in her actions towards her fellow man. The bible says to, "Delight yourself in the Lord" and she did just that.

Verlene was preceded in death by her brothers, Vernon and Llewellyn; her sister, Elsie; her son, Trevor Grant; her grandson, Roger Pollard; her step-grandson, Mark Pollard; and several other beloved relatives.

She is survived by her younger sister, Yvonne Phillips, and Yvonne Phillips husband. She also leaves behind her loving children: her daughter, Cynthia Pollard, and son-in-law, Ralph Pollard; and her son, Anthony Grant, and daughter-in-law, Yvette Grant.

She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Randall Pollard, Raneir Pollard, Sarah Grant, Amanda Robbins and her grand daughter-in- law Shay Moen Pollard; as well as her step-grandchildren, Ralph Pollard Jr., Donna Pollard, and Michelle Pollard.

One of Verlene's greatest joys was living long enough to see and cherish her great-grandchildren: Isaiah, Jordyn, Tiger, Ava, and Camryn. Along with her many step-great-grandchildren—Rashana, Renata, Ralph, Ralson, Encoya, Cherise, Mya, and Nevaeh. She was also blessed with five step-great-great-grandchildren. She delighted in watching their photographs appear again and again on her digital picture frame, bringing her endless happiness.

Verlene was blessed with a long life of 95 years, 8 months, and 6 days, spending most of those years in good health and working diligently. She had a special gift for sewing and loved making clothing for herself, her family, and others. For many years, she supplemented her income through the craft she enjoyed so much.

Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we are grateful for the life she lived, the sacrifices she made, and the love she shared so generously. Her legacy of faith, resilience, kindness, and devotion to family will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her.

Rest in peace, our dear beloved Mom. You will forever be loved, deeply missed, and always remembered.
