I have known the Chang 's for about 50 years and used to visit them occasionally while in Jamaica.  When we moved to Miami, the relationship blossomed into a much closer one----they  became part of our family.  Both our homes were nearby and Sharon was the godmother to our eldest daughter, who was born just a few months before Stefan.  Their place was like a second home to our two  girls and Mrs Chang also became their loving PoPo .

I fondly recall Mrs Chang as a kind, demure, soft spoken person of strong religious faith and with a great talent for sewing.  She always had a beautiful smile as she welcomed us into her home. 

We will forever remember PoPo dearly  and  pray that  her soul will rest in eternal peace.

When I think of you, I think beloved Aunt, Second Mom, Counsellor, Mentor; I see calm, elegance, virtue, beauty; I recall sewing lessons, cleaning advice, happy times at Jacks Hill.

Now I visualize you chatting with Gwen, finally being free of the life's ailments. Know that you live on not only in heaven, but on earth in the lives of all you touched so sweetly.

Aunt Vie, you were a loving, elegant, faithful and caring aunt and sister to my Mom and our family.   At times you looked after us, especially when we were young and I sometimes think of you as our second mom.  I cherish all the memories of spending time with you, beautiful dresses you sewed for me, and the special way you said my name.    You will forever remain in my heart and prayers.

We will always remember Mrs. Chang for her gentle spirit, kindness, and patience (especially when coaxing a young Stefan to eat). 

Your time of suffering is over, may you reunite with Mr. Chang, and find eternal joy and peace with the Lord. 


Aunt Vie, you were my godmother and a positive influence on my life. I love you dearly and will miss you very much. 

I’ll treasure the memories of your kind gentle spirit, your even toned advice, your many talents (sewing and cooking immediately come to mind – you taught me so much)! The world is a better place for having you in it – you touched many lives with your warmth, goodness and grace. I particularly remember you telling me to keep a positive attitude – about the power of positive thinking. 

I say a prayer from my heart that God will give you peace and comfort! Rest in Peace in God’s loving arms, Aunt Vie.


For much of my life, Popo was plagued by a disease which robs oneself of their mind. Yet, I still remember her from when I was a young child, before her dementia had fully set it. Although it may have taken from Popo her mind, it could never take from her the essence of who she was; a lady who's core exuded a rare level of genuine poise, kindness, and elegance. May you rest in eternal peace.
