Ginny was born Mar 16, 1929 in Brooklyn New York. She was the daughter of Lillian (Brien) Patterson and stepdaughter of Ralph Patterson. She attended Bishop Mac Donald H.S. in Brooklyn NY. She worked in NYC in the insurance industry and later worked in Long Island City High School.
Ginny married Vincent James Bentivoglio (Jimmy) at St. Raphael’s Church in Long Island City, NY on June 2, 1951. They settled in Sunnyside and later moved to Astoria, Queens NY. They had 2 daughters Virginia (Little Ginnie) and Maria (Mia). In 1976 they all moved to Miami, Florida.
Ginny enjoyed volunteering at the church office while her daughters were in grammar school. She assisted with the grammar school bowling team on Saturdays and was President of the Women’s Church Bowling Club in NY. Her volunteering continued throughout the years. She was a member of the Senior L.I.F.T. Center for over 20 years, volunteered on the Board, and also taught jewelry making. She enjoyed her day’s playing cards, bunco, bingo, computers and the many activities the L.I.F.T. provided. She made many friends there. She was an avid reader, especially of mystery novels.
Ginny is survived by her daughter Virginia (Ginnie) and her husband Robert Vespe, her sister Maryanne of Miami and brother James of Williston. She was also the best grandmother to Robert (Cristina), Ryan (Monique), and Christopher (Natasha) Vespe, and Vincent (Robin) Michael, and Daniel (Jeanette) Batlle.
Grandma was known for being at all their sporting events and taking her 6 grandchildren to the Youth Fair yearly, spending time on the rides and having a day of fun with them. She was always ready to take them on an adventure. Whether it was bowling, tennis or roller skating (where she broke her arm). She lived for fun.
Ginny had 8 great grandchildren Noah, Rease, Ariana, Ethan, Robert (RJ), Gabriel, Nicolas, and Jaysen. She loved seeing and playing games with them.
Sundays were always special as Ginny and Jim hosted a tradition of family dinners that included the best pasta, meatballs and sausage. Everyone was invited to come by and feast! There were always leftovers to take home as well as a great dessert! Christmas Eve was an extra special tradition, “The Feast of Seven Fishes”” as we celebrated waiting for the birth of baby Jesus. Ginny and Jim would cook all day, and after dessert Santa would come with little surprises for the kids. Family and friends celebrated the Eve!
Ginny was preceded in death by her husband Vincent (Jimmy) and daughter Maria (Mia), her sister Marguerite and her brother Joseph.
The sweetest kindest person you could ever meet…. All will miss her.
