
Yolanda Palacio, aged 89, died peacefully on Dec 12, 2017 at her home after a long illness. Yolanda was born Dec 25, 1927 in Santiago de Cuba the daughter of Luis Felipe Lacau and Ernestina de Moya. She studied at the University of Habana where she earned her Doctoral degree in Pharmacy and taught pharmacy at the Instituto de Santiago. She married Eloy Angel Palacio and had two sons. They gave up everything they owned in order to give their children a better life. After briefly living in Spain and New Jersey, they settled in Miami where she ultimately became a practicing pharmacist for many years. Yolanda thoroughly enjoyed being with children, her beloved dog Queeny and traveling. At her core her passion was her family. Having been widowed 38 years ago, she dedicated herself to raising and providing for her two young sons. Yolanda is survived by her sons Carlos Palacio and Jose Palacio, and her two grandchildren, Annette and Joey Palacio-Huymans. She is also survived by her three nephews, Eduardo, Peter and Luis Felipe Lacau and their children, as well as a number of other relatives and close friends. There will be a funeral Service and mass at Caballero Funeral Home on Friday Dec 15 from 6pm to midnight. A mass will be held at St Agatha Catholic Church at 10:30am Sat Dec 16. There will be an 11:30am a graveside service at the Woodlawn North Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to St. Agatha Catholic Church.
