Zenaida Fernandez (Mimi), at age 93, passed away at home on 12/19/21 surrounded by her family after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She joined Alberto Martinez Arizala, her husband of over 70 years, who passed away almost two months before. She is survived by her sons Alberto, Eduardo, and Alex, and her daughter Gloria. She was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Zenaida was born in Camagüey, Cuba, on 06/05/1928 and went on to graduate from the School of Pharmacy at the Universidad de la Habana. Like many others she had to leave her beloved Cuba 1961 and settled with her family in Puerto Rico, which became her "segunda patria." She raised her family and helped her husband establish a successful business. She lived in Puerto Rico until 1992 when she and Alberto moved to Miami to be close to the rest of his family. She was Alberto's biggest fan when he played the piano or sang. Mimi, as we all called her, loved all her children and grandchildren. We will all miss her dearly and her signature goodbye on the phone, "Mimi te quiere."
